Cities come with a shrine and monument. No granary. 3 policies right away and a fourth a few turns later.

IMHO, late-era starts get more and more broken/imbalanced the later the era, so Medieval is the second-least broken of them. 
For one thing, starting with only 500 culture in the Modern era is ridiculous. Imagine, if you will, only collecting 500 culture in 300 turns... That's less than one monument...
The medieval start is still somewhat borked. By the time you've accumulated enough beakers to have every classical era tech, there's no way you'd only have 3 policies. By then you'll typically have completed a tree. (6 policies)
But, at least religion and classical+ wonders are still in the game. Although, it is unfortunate to lose out on some (but not all) of the Policy-Tree-defining wonders. It devalues Liberty and Honor, but hardly impacts Tradition at all. The bigger impact of late-era starts is the change in beaker/production/gold costs. This *somewhat* makes up for getting free aqueducts late, and in fact may yield (in the long run) freakishly early finishes. However, the Medieval start reductions aren't nearly as drastic as the Modern era ones. Which reminds me, I really need to finish the LAST GoTM. lol

Can we have a normal game one's please????? I hate this advanced starts. They do not add any interest to the game and even more restrict ways to victory.
Instead I would suggest to restrict social policy competitors can take, for example prohibit tradition and liberty.

I'm also missing "normal" start. Its fine to have later era starts, but keep atleast one game a month normal

Missing? These are like the first non-"normal" starts in a long time. It's like less than 1 in 20 GoTM. Actually, they're the first ever that I can recall...
The only atypical games we've done since I got on staff were (iirc) one Quick Speed Deity game and these recent later Era starts. Sometimes we messed with settings or the number of AI/CSs but never this level of adjustment. Sometimes the status quo needs a little shaking up. We will certainly have more standard games but these have been fun for some variety for the regulars and the newcomers.

Well, I started playing GOTM not so long ago so I dont know what happende a long time ago. But the last times I've been wanting to start a game its been with a non regular starting era, so I've skipped em. Maybe I remember it wrong since I havent played-gotm in some time, but I thought it was like 4 of the 5 last games or something. Everything else than later era's I consider normal btw
I do like the idea of policy restrictions. Being forced to fully complete say commerce as part of a preferred VC would seem to be something a training series should do from time to time
