you guys expecting great reavels about ideologies? first impression is they downplayed it so religion is relevant til the end of a game.

Ideologies are essentially governments this time around right?

That is my understanding as well. The modern governments (democracy, communism and fascism) cover the 3 main ideologies from civ5. And with the diplo modifier towards civs with different governments, the ideological conflict angle is covered. Plus, ideologies were introduced in civ5 to basically give the player more "social policies" in the end game, albeit with a twist. That is not needed in civ6 since static social policies are gone.

Welp, no reveal = nothing to talk about. Until tomorrow, perhaps.

*yawn* getting bored now, I thought they would've released the new video today but alas nothing. Still only 216 videos on the YouTube Channel.

they were busy. they fix the name of the Scythian capital:lol:

What the diplomatic modifier doesn't do is give civs with different ideologies a mechanical reason to dislike/come into conflict with each other. That's a role that ideological pressure form tourism fills in Civ V, while in Civ VI, we know essentially nothing about tourism except that it exists.

...A -x modifier (that grows as government grows, it seems) means they already dislike you, which in turn increases the likelihood of conflict.

I rather like the change, as I feel like (assuming the AI chooses governments logically) you'll have some forewarning of what's happening. In Civ5 I've had civs I've been best friends with all game suddenly turn on me because they chose a different ideology; I feel like Civ6's approach will at least be more nuanced than that.

Right, my point is that if the developers want ideological tensions to be an important part of the game, they should include a gameplay/strategic reason for those tensions to exist. Programing the AI roleplay and expecting human players to do the same would not, in my opinion, be sufficient.

4 weeks left. And 4 civs to reveal.

Arabia
Sumer
Rome
Russia,
and Gorgo

You would say things are to quiet when it comes down to sharing new info a month before release.

Really expected another stream this week.

Streams will be there. They need to show a few things such as late game or diplomacy, war etc.

Maybe they don't have much to show from late game yet (month to release )

Voting for Russia. I hope it's going to be science-themed. Peter was known for modernizing Russian army by studying western nations. Plus we haven't had a single science focused Civ yet, have we?
