So when they will release a patch to repair the ''sell free library each turn from the GL'' trick? I heard something about the free GP bug too... don't know if it's true.

2 weeks now have passed and no correction about the GL bug. It's really annoying in multiplayer if you play with people how know the powerful bug.

What are they waiting for?

No ETA yet. We only know they've been working on it, but haven't got a clue what the release date will be for the hotfix.
(Well, I hope there will be a hotfix instead of carrying it over to the next full patch)

Even the simplest patches take a fair amount of time as they have to go not only though the dev cycle of 'fixing it', the QA cycle of testing the fix, then through certification. Civ's never really been one to hotfix bugs, we'll just have to wait till the next patch.

That being said...it's not really an issue in MP - the gold yielded is obnoxiously low and only one person can take advantage of the exploit. If you're worried about them doing it either 1) beat them to the wonder or 2) make sure everyone in the lobby knows that abusing it will end in everyone ganging up on them.

Not to mention the finisher bug, that's what I'm waiting for. I only play SP and never exploit bugs like the selling free buildings so atleast i can ignore that one.

That's what i said in another thread. You can sell for 12 gold per turn the free lib. That's 1200 gold from turn 30 to 130! That's a lot(for mp it's a lot). I try to spot the player who built it and check every turn if his gold stack jump in a unusual way.

If i can't find the guy i ask in private if somebody have found him and tell him about the trick to verify for me. At least the person concerned may be not awared of this and we can continue to play our game normally.

Don't sell your libraries then you don't have to worry about it. LOL

I've known about the bug since it was first mentioned here, I haven't used it yet and don't plan to. It's like eating fried chicken every day and then complaining about your cholesterol levels. Just don't eat the fried chicken.

Are you referring to the Social Policy finisher counting as a social policy, therefore increasing the costs of further policies?

I'm pretty sure I read that while this wasn't necessarily intended, the devs based the balance of the culture costs with this in effect... so it's a non-issue.

Am I wrong?

I haven't played a Diety culture game yet (post-patch), but in my last Emperor culture game I didn't have any trouble completing 5 trees, and to be honest, I played that game pretty sloppily.

Two things, one he was referring to multiplayer, how do you stop someone else from exploiting it? And two, fried chicken is addicting...

it is an issue, while the total cost of 5 trees filled is supposed balanced with the bug. If you fill 1 tree after another early you are effectively making it harder for yourself to get more policies early where it matters. Later in the game you have alot of culture per turn so filling in trees doesn't hurt as much maybe only a few turns, but filling in an early tree may jump your costs up 10-20 turns. Its better to pick n choose the good stuff from early trees in its current format if you care about policies.

It isn't major but it unintentionally changes how i would play a normal game & i find that annoying.

Certain finishers are worth grabbing immediately though for a culture game, namely Freedom Finish and Piety Finish. IMO Tradition as well, but that's because I OCC when going Cultural.

Tabarnak has a good point about the free library in MP games, I can just imagine what might go on there, just imagine all that extra gold per turn especially early game! As far as SP games go we would be cheating ourselves if we use it.

I know that this bug is only exploitative by humans, so in sp mode the player just don't bother and continue normally. But in mp 12 gpt more can be game breaking. Each 4 turn you can upgrade a warrior to a swordman(55 gold needed)? For free? Hilarious! You go negative gpt? No problem! You don't need currency either! Just bring the free money...nah this really sucks.

I will play other games or with trusted friends only until they patch this crap(and other unbalanced bugs).

Thanks for the clarification. My impression was that it all worked out in the end after reading a post or two about it, but what you said makes more sense. :goodjob:

Yes, he was referring to MP, I guess I didn't really catch that. My mistake. As to the addiction level of fried chicken, that depends on where you get it from. :D
