No animated leaders!?

After seeing some preview videos i thought that enemy leaders in the diplo screen are animated?
Like the japan one drawing his sword etc. But in my first game nothing is like this, its just leader
screens with portrait. Is this how it should be?

I got one too.
Probably good to check the game options.
For now I just leave it like that for the fear of turning it on would melt my laptop

You can go to options -> video -> advanced -> leader animation optimised

I don't know if the game detect if you have a good videocard or if it's turned by default.

For me, civ5 leader animation were fine but civ6 leader are very slow, so I d'on't mind if they are not animated

My leaders' textures change colors or dissapear.

The graphical setting "optimisation" seems especially overzealous regarding animated leaders. Mine were off by default, and even NVidia's GeForce experience recommends they be turned off. The game runs absolutely fine with them turned on though.

I will say that even with animated leaders, some of us find the leaders have radioactive white/grey/orange hair (probably due to poor DX 11 optimization).
