So I started playing a custom scenario with the options raging barbarians and barbarian world on as well as wildlands. I dispatched a few animals and captured the barbarian cities and then there was nothing else around. Is there a problem with barbarians in custom scenarios? Why are they not spawning? Thanks!

Barbs wont spawn until there are a certain amount of cities in the world. I dont remember how many that is. With wildlands its something like 2 cities per player.
Thanks that makes sense as I was the only player with more than one city!
On that note- Would you happen to know why a custom scenario im playing has barbarian world option checked but does not start out with barbarian cities?

Are you sure it has no barbarian cities? Did you check in worldbuilder, or somehow explore the whole world before they could have been captured? All Barbarian cities start on the same continent. (Personally I'd rather they be more spread out.)
Yes I checked this and could not find any anywhere...
I hate the one continent thing as well!
Just started playing another custom map with this option checked and still no barbarian cities. Its turn 125 and I looked in the worldbuilder and I see none anywhere...
I wonder if it has to do with any of these factors:
Only one continent
End of Winter
Map is mostly tundra
