'No CD' patch for SMAC/SMACx - Mac

Well, I have copies of botrh and if I remember right I never put the CD in. I got sick of the movies and such and that is all that have no cd in leaves out (if I am remembering correctly).
Sukenis, tell me how you did that exactly. Here is the reason I am looking for this patch. A week ago I was horsing around with my brother and we both rolled onto something that went 'crunch and crack'. Bad move....the CD broke into 5 pieces and I didn't make a back-up copy. The thing that I don't get, according to your statement, is that I did a full-install of the CD to my harddrive - everything is on the HD, so what is the program calling for that is on the CD?
Lefty, I have to question your intentions about your post to my topic. Most people post 'nothing' if they cannot offer help. But you have made a point to respond in a fashion that would indicate you had another reason for responding. When I start up the game I get a warning that no cd was noted. I say OK and then the game startes up. Nothing more, nothing less. I even did that when I was not doing a full install. Try to boot it up and say ok.
Also copies of Alpha are going pretty cheap. Maybe 12$ (that is including shipping).

Use "Standard" or "Full" installation and you don't need it. However, if you use "Standard" with no CD, you won't see movies. Doesn't bother me though

I just noticed that this wsa for the MAC. I only have and play the PC version. I am not sure if the MAC version works the same.
If you registered, some places will replace a broken CD. I am not sure how you would go about it, but it might be worth a shot.

I use SMAC/X + the Beta Carbonised (OS X) version by Brad Oliver. I can put _any_ CD in the slot and still launch SMAC/X.
