Anyone try playing with no city states? Does it seem much harder without them?

I would be interested in hearing what people thought of their experiences trying this.

I tried it and it does sort of make it harder. Problem is you just end up horse rushing people as it is by far the most powerful option left.

There are way more barbs and the AI seem to declare war on you more.

Yeah I tried it. I kind of liked how you actually have to build farms, granaries and culture buildings

The problem is, it makes two civ abilities and one social policy tree completely moot.
