No Navy

I have never seen a naval invasion in Wild Mana. However, the AI in BTS will stage naval invasions. They aren't very good at it, usually dumping off one load of troops and then never supplying any reinforcements, but they do understand how to get across the water. Pretty much the same for the old FfH AI. They would also pillage developed sea resources and blockade port cities.

But now, navies are completely non-existent, and I agree with the others here that it really detracts from the game quite a bit. Blocking the building of boats (or reducing it to such a low priority that it never happens during actual gameplay) was kind of a knee-jerk reaction, and one that I had hoped would have been removed by now.

It would be nice if one of the modders with programming skills would take the time to look at Skyre Notice's old AI mod. It had some naval tweaks, including showing the AI how to use the various crew options.

It really is odd that the ancient Civ I did more with its navies than our state-of-the-art favorite mod. True, Civ I's AI would suicidal send wave after wave of transports into certain doom, but at least it was trying to win - and if you were careless, bam! Successful invasion.

I recall the time, many years ago, when I had a large island well under my control, when suddenly iron ships landed musketeers - and all the king's charioteers and swordsmen could do nothing to stop the invaders. Nowadays, you're pretty safe from that happening in FFH2.

One day though someone will solve the naval paradox and then it's on...
