No Oil

I am playing a tiny map on monarch difficulty (large Pangea) and there is no Oil I have researched refining and no one has oil, not my oppenents, or anyone.

Now im stuck with just mideval ships and cavalry.

I cannot remember if PTW has the Cntrl shift M, in C3C it will clear the map of things so you can see just the terrain items.

It actually has Crt+Shift+N to set the filtering. Then you can see if anyone really has oil. It could be under a town or on an island. (I think that is the command anyway)

It is not under a town or anything because roads are hooked virtually everywhere by most civs and no one can build the oil based units

I dont think it is possible for a random map to lack a resource.. sure it isnt on some far off island that you havent found yet?

All map is explored, every tile, maybe i will attach a savegame

Edit: How do you make attachments anyway?

Use the post reply and look for the manage attachment option. IIRC you have to have all resource on a given map in PTW, but maybe not.

For some reason it is two large land masses but i am trying to get an invasion together but im used to having oil to mount one

Yep...you are most definitely oil-less. I didn't even know that was possible. Well, if you're not gonna attack them with the stuff you have, you could always wait for a source of oil to appear....I'm not sure if they appear whenever or if you need to deplete a source first.

Not surprising that there is no oil on that map. No tundra, and only 8 deserts - two of which have saltpeter. I'm guessing this is a wet climate, warm temperature map. Strange things can happen on tiny maps.

What do you need an invasion for? You are only 40 turns from spaceship launch!

Is it a scenario or a map you have made yourself? In epic games in PTW there will always be at least one (or is it two?) of each resource on a randomly generated map.

Just for my luck i happened to have only conquest enabled. This is not a scenario and i made all terrian at moderate values (Temperate, Normal, 4 Billion)

I play only on tiny maps (hate micro) and it can happen from time to time that a resource or two never appear. I even had 3 games in a row where there was simply no aluminium ANYWHERE.

It does happen from time to time on a tiny pang maps with 80% water where certain type of resources will never appear. For example, I have run into a game where there was only 7 types of luxuries (one of them were missing from the game completely).

O well, just use artillery (or you could go with nuke+cavalry conquest for the post apocalyptic fun of it)

LOL. This happened to me but I was Iron-less. I was playing as Japan with no opponets because I wanted to explore how things were made and what certain city improvements did. I was so angry when I found out.
