No sound on Civ 4

Hi All,

I've just installed my civ4 but I dont have any sound, I checked the options and the correct device is selected?? I have no idea what to do.

one of the sound systems listed is a usb device - is that what you are using?

I found a work around, if i launch wow and keep the login screen in the background then launch civ the sound works, how weird??

it is weird - but at least it works
