The VP is a Cabinet member. The reason Duck appointed you was because you were the first one and your politics agreed with his. He needed to fill the position and you were his best choice. The constitution states the VP position needs to be elected.
you don't need to hold a cabinet position to be VP. If you lose your cabinet position you can still be VP. You CAN hold two positions at a time, but it is not necessary for the VP.
I agree the VP needs to be elected, but I think the VP is the runner up from the presidential election. If it was a separate position, Duck would have appointed someone else to the post that was not already a cabinet member. In addition, the Duke of Marlborough PMed me a couple weeks ago asking if I thought the VP should be a separate position. I told him it was fine with me, as I didn't want the extra title anyway and would gladly give it up. This leads me to believe that the VP is not already a separate post.
