Norwegian Football league thread

I hate Norwegian football. Norway is the worst/most boring team in the world...

Maybe, but that is the Norwegian national team. This thread is about the league, the clubs. They are very entertaining to watch. And I love to watch the Norway anyway, regardless of what other people say. I don't think they are boring.

If youre danish, which I bet you are: We'll smash Denmark in Parken. At least, Norway doesn't lose home against Bosnia. :)

Back to topic: It is in fact quite unusual for Rosenborg to start the season as good as this year. Last year, for example, they were 10 points behind Lyn halfway through the season, but they won it nevertheless.

Tomorrow they will meat last years number 2 in 1. division, Aalesund, home in Trondheim. No surprises there i guess. I might as well present you to all the matches:

Sunday 4/5
Bryne - Lillestrøm
Molde - Lyn
Rosenborg - Aalesund
Stabæk - Glimt
Tromsø - Odd
Vålerenga - Sogndal
Monday 5/5
Brann - Viking

Hey, watch it! Of course you are right! :D

Funny that. A Dane slagging Norway and an Englishman slagging Scotland. There seems to be a common theme here. Just a pity us Scots can't hit on anyone for being worse than us now that the Welsh, Irish and even Americans have decent teams!

Yeah definately, they qualify for slagging status ;) As they tend to quite poorly but they don't lose all their games and they would tend to expect to qualify for major tournaments, a bit like Scotland really...

Well well, here are the results of the fourth round:

Monday 5/5
Brann-Viking 0-3
Sunday 4/5
Bryne-Lillestrøm 3-1
Molde-Lyn 2-2
Rosenborg-Aalesund 1-0
Stabæk-Bodø/Glimt 0-0
Tromsø-Odd 0-2
Vålerenga-Sogndal 3-3 (Sogndal led by 3-0 until 20 minutes remained!)

Rosenborg is alone on the top of the league, they are now the only team with four victories. Viking is now number two:

Rosenborg 4 11-1 12
Viking 4 10-2 10
Sogndal 4 9-5 10
Odd Grenland 4 7-6 9
Stabæk 4 7-3 7
Bodø/Glimt 4 5-3 7
Molde 4 6-5 4
Vålerenga 4 6-7 4
Tromsø 4 6-9 4
Bryne 4 5-8 3
Lillestrøm 4 2-9 3
Lyn 4 4-8 2
Brann 4 4-12 2
Aalesund 4 6-10 1

If I havent told you: The two teams at the bottom of the tables at the end of the season is relegated. (nr. 13 and 14) The team at 12 will play two matches of qualification against number 3 in 1. division.

Start lost 0-1 home against the bad team Oslo Øst. Catastrophe!

WOW! A Norwegian football league thread...I'm amazed. Seems like I could become a regular here, was it not for the fact that I don't post often. Anyway - good luck to you Vraslosken (what does that name mean??)

Anyway, Here's results from 1st Round in the Cup (I know it's a LEAGUE thread, but whatever):
Wednesday 7/5:
Buvik 0-17 Rosenborg
Kirkenes 0-7 Lillestrøm (Lillestrøm is close to Oslo, Kirkenes is way up in the north - strange)
Flekkerøy 1-2 Start
Hamar IL 0-6 Molde (Hamar is not to confused with Hamkam in Division 1, who beat Groruddalen 8-0)
FK Arendal 1-2 Odd Grenland
Verdal (D2) 3-5 Bodø/Glimt (Verdal led 3-1 before Ville Lehtinen scored a hat-trick for Glimt)
Egersund 2-3 Bryne
Senja 1-9 Tromsø
Rakkestad 0-4 Stabæk
Kopervik 1-5 Viking
Skotfoss 1-5 Vålerenga
Brumunddal 0-6 Sogndal
Haramsøy/Nordøy (HaNo) 0-2 Aalesund
Kolbu/KK 0-7 Lyn
Lyngbø 0-4 Brann
Sprint/Jeløy 4-2 Fossum (I used to play for Fossum once...not the A team though)
etc., etc.

There were 64 matches in all, but these were the ones with Premiership teams (+ Fossum and Start). Only one of the top 30 teams (Premiership and Division 1) went out - Oslo Øst, who lost 2-4 at Sparta Sarpsborg.

Buvik 0-17 Rosenborg

Hmm So thats probably Grantham vs Man United then...

At last a fellow Norwegian! :) Good to hear. Great that you covered the cup for me.

Top match in the league tonight. Viking against Rosenborg in Stavanger. Nr. 2 versus nr. 1. Here are the fixtures:

Saturday 10/5
Viking - Rosenborg

Sunday 11/5
Bodø/Glimt - Bryne
Lyn - Aalesund
Molde - Stabæk
Odd - Vålerenga
Sogndal - Brann

Monday 12/5
Lillestrøm - Tromsø

If Sogdal wins by a lot of goals, and Viking beats Rosenborg, then Sogndal may be at the top of the league after 5 rounds. Who would have thought that?

Start is playing away against Raufoss, a team who have won every match this year in 1. division.

Here are the results - as no one has bothered posting them yet.

Viking 0-2 Rosenborg (no, they didn't lose)
Bodø/Glimt 3-1 Bryne (Hooray!)
Lyn 2-1 Aalesund
Molde 0-0 Stabæk
Odd 3-1 Vålerenga
Lillestrøm 3-2 Tromsø
Sogndal 2-0 Brann

And the Cup, second round (still 24 matches to go, some were played this week due to Norway's international against Finland):
Ålgård 0-1 Viking (goal from Nevland in the 87th minute sent them through)
Clausenengen 0-15 Rosenborg (yet again!)
Averøykam 0-3 Molde
Frigg Oslo 0-5 Vålerenga
Alta 4-6 Tromsdalen
Haugesund 1-0 Hovding
Strømsgodset 7-1 Bærum
Start 4-2 Klepp

Someone has got to stop Rosenborg. They have one loss since Åge Hareide took over as manager - and that was on penalties in a friendly tournament (against Nürnberg)

Thank you for posting the result, i have been absent for a couple of days. Here are the tables:

Rosenborg 5 13-1 15
Sogndal 5 11-5 13
Odd 5 10-7 12
Viking 5 10-4 10
Bodø/Glimt 5 8-4 10
Stabæk 5 7-3 8
Lillestrøm 5 5-11 6
Molde 5 6-5 5
Lyn 5 6-9 5
Vålerenga 5 7-10 4
Tromsø 5 8-12 4
Bryne 5 6-11 3
Brann 5 4-14 2
Aalesund 5 7-12 1

Aalesund are having a disastrous season-opening. They have to start winning som matches soon.

Next match for Sogndal is away against Rosenborg.

In the Lillestrøm - Tromsø match, The alltime Norwegian goal-scoring record for the premier division was broken. Odd Iversen used to have it with 158 goals, but now Lillestrøms striker Petter Belsvik has it, when he scored the 1-0 goal on a penalty. The record is now 159, and Belsvik is of course expecting to score a couple of mre goals during the season.

Start beat Raufoss 3-1 :)

I think the reason they keep on winning is because Vraslosken only posts when they do win. Start are currently 8th in the 1st Division, but they have a game in hand. If they win that, they will jump up to 5th.

Ah not that bad then... You will have to keep on posting to give me all their defeats and draws as well :)

Starts matches this season:
MK - Start 1-0
Start - Sandefjord 4-2
Start - Oslo Øst 0-1
Raufoss - Start 1-3

I think i have posted all of them before but... :)

Nevertheless, tomorrow is the classic 16th may round in Norway. Everybody watches football that evening. The matches are:

Friday 16/5
Aalesund - Viking
Brann - Odd
Bryne - Molde
Rosenborg - Sogndal
Stabæk - Lyn
Tromsø - Glimt
Vålerenga - Lillestrøm

Top match in Trondheim then.
And a classic match between Tromsø and Bodø/Glimt. They are they two teams which are most up north of all the Norwegian Premier division teams.

Start will play against Hødd, a very bad team.

Okay well well, here are the results of the matches on friday. Rosenborg won again and seem unstopable.

A little surprising that Stabæk lost against Lyn, and that Brann beat Odd by such numbers.

Friday 16/5
Aalesund-Viking 1-1
Brann-Odd 3-0
Bryne-Molde 3-0
Rorenborg-Sogndal 3-1 (Sogndal did in fact score first, and they had many chances during the first half. Rosenborg were by far the best team in second half though.)
Stabæk-Lyn 1-3
Tromsø-Glimt 3-3
Vålerenga-Lillestrøm 1-1

The tables then:

Rosenborg 6 16-2 18
Sogndal 6 12-8 13
Odd Grenland 6 10-10 12
Viking 6 11-5 11
Bodø/Glimt 6 11-7 11
Stabæk 6 8-6 8
Lyn 6 9-10 8
Lillestrøm 6 6-12 7
Bryne 6 9-11 6
Molde 6 6-8 5
Vålerenga 6 8-11 5
Tromsø 6 11-15 5
Brann 6 7-14 5
Aalesund 6 8-13 2

Aalesund have problems. 2 points in six matches is not good enough.

Odd Grenland would have taken the second place with a victory against Brann, but now Brann have got contact with the teams above them on the tables.

Start - Hødd 3-0:D Start is now sixth.

Start played against Strømsgodset wednesday. The result: 1-1

Some cup matches were played too: (more than these, but these are the premier division teams)

STABÆK-SPARTA 2-0 (1-0)

BODØ/GLIMT-MO 2-1 (1-1)

FYLLINGEN-BRANN 1-3 (1-2)

TROMSØ-HAMMERFEST 8-1 (2-1)

BRYNE-VARD HAUGESUND 5-1 (2-0)

LILLESTRØM-MERCANTILE 7-2 (1-0)

SOGNDAL-LILLEHAMMER 10-0 (5-0)

STRYN-AALESUND 0-4 (0-2)

TØNSBERG-ODD 0-2 (0-1)
