You're all showing your true nerd-ish colors, when people suggest that he should dump his girlfriend so he can play civ more. She might be needy, but I bet to Waxon, that she's more fun at night, than the civ-4 box. If she needs a bit of watering to keep her happy, so be it. She's not being unreasonable, she's being a girlfriend. C'mon people, give her a break. I'd sooner make make my partner happy, than to play a computer game. Partner > Computer Game. Its so obvious I'm surprised no one else has said it.

Anyone would choose a girl over a game, ANYONE, but he is not saying he'd rather play civ than spend time with her. He says he's doin all the effort here. This man is lookin for a girlfriend and not a pet. People who love each other treat each other right and his girlfriend is not doing that. People are not saying he should give up girls for civ they are saying he should dump her and find a girlfriend who is more understanding, nice, and considerite.

Good luck with the GF on that. Luckily, I'm pretty lucky with mine - we have some seperate hobbies, and we even play some games together (Not Civ though).

It helps if they're not too high-maintenence.

My girl is at least as big a geek as I am, when I got civ 4 she was happy that I'd leave her alone so she could play with her new laptop. We're both developers, geek love is something special.

...that being said, you might find you'd win in the end if you just told your girlfriend "Listen up and listen good - I'm gonna play civ and if you don't like it, you know where the door is."

If she's a screamer and a thrower, you may have a few tough moments, but you might find that in the end you can have exactly as much power as you take. ...that's the funny thing about power - you have to take it.

Yeah, I dated a guy once who wouldn't let me touch the remote. Ever. And he was a channel-flipper too. It got to the point where I'd be begging him to leave it on ONE station for just 15 minutes, I didn't care which station. Or I'd want to make sure we didn't miss the football game, but no, he had to watch 6 shows at once. He'd accuse me of being high-maintenance if I wanted him to talk to me for five minutes too, so... got rid of him, good riddance. He was great camping or vacationing, bad when we returned to civilization.

Efexeye: I knew you were cool as soon as you posted the first time in this thread, and now you're a Spartan too!

irishlamma: High school will be over soon. However, there are girls with at least some of your interests and values at your high school who are thinking the EXACT SAME thing you are. Perhaps you should start looking around more, and not just at the "popular" girls (who are never really popular because no one really likes them).
