I am not being mean, but from most of the post on this site, it comes down to the computer slowing down as the game progresses.... The game works fine for most of us until the modern era......

Am I alone feeling worried that customers of the game trying to fix this game and encourging you to download their code?.... you would not (hopefully) sleep with a stranger unprotected that tells you he/she has good code and will make you feel good...

If there is a memory problem that is causing this problem, then the company should focus on this code issue.

I like CIV IV, but to give a half unfinshed game with memory issues is just not good customer service....

Firaxis has said that they are working on this issue and that the next patch should address it.

Your reports and feedback have enabled us to fix the top issues for the next patch (available soon). Enhancements and improvements have been made in many areas, including a significant reduction in memory usage. Besides sharing more graphics data (also done by the latest forum memory patch), we have reduced sizes of source code systems and data, for a big win. Stayed tuned...

this belongs more to the general discussions, together with 2.000 other threads on the same matter.

Warpstorm, could you post a link to that thread? Thanks.

If you don't want to download any third party solutions, you certainly don't have too. None of us have to use any of the third party stuff developed. The fact is, installing any software on your system is a risk, no matter who the producer is. You might feel safer because you know the name of the company that made the product, but that doesn't mean you are. If somebody on the customer side comes up with a fix, it's alway up to the other customers if they want to use that fix, or wait for a company fix.

Your analogy of sleeping with someone isn't a bad one. The fact is that a lot of people will sleep with relative strangers just to feel good at the moment, and most of the time, this will probably be alright. It's not hard to imagine that many people, especially the non-technically inclined, will feel even more relaxed with their computers.

I hope people would rather risk their computers health than their own ;) It is just a somputer after all, if you get a virus delete it or reinstall OS from scratch... Always keeping backups of important files, helps eliviate the fear of total system shutdown...

Warpstorm: Yes please tell us where you seen the devs say that.
