Am I the only one worried that the game has not gone gold yet??
(IYDK Gone Gold = the game is done and has been sent off for duplication) :) Please tell me I am crazy and worrying for nothing, that this GREAT game will not be delayed, and that diet DR. Pepper REALLY DOES taste like regular Dr. Pepper!!! :p

Thank you and Good Night!!:D

It's still not too late for it to go gold. Besides, in some occasions they don't make a public announcement for going gold.

well it requires good timing...
The more time you wait until going gold the better the game will be
However, the less time you wait until going gold, the more games that will be availible at launch

Ok just did some research on Civ3

Gone gold 10/8/2001
Released to stores 10/29/2001

so there's still time :)

Okay a little less worried now thanks, but gaming sense still tingling (at least I hopes it's my gaming sense!!)

Personally, I'd rather they waited till the last possible minute to squash as many bugs as possible.

where do the developers of civ4 live? because if the game turns out to be a flop, we have a right to burn and pillage their homes.

General K. deserves :spank: for such a comment. These guys are doing a great job creating a great game with limited resources, under time pressure and the sometimes unforgiving eye :hammer: of a fanatic fan community.

I am sure it would be hell of a crunch time at Firaxis right now because the game has already pushed above 2 weeks of the original release date! I hope they pull it off nicely because developer never want to release a game unpolished, it is mostly the greed of publishers that results in a bug filled product.

Well after finishing version 1.0 they have about three weeks to work on version 1.01 the real version where all the last minute bugs can be patched that didnt get solved on time.

I'm hoping that Firaxis, asked to move up the release date, decided to delay the pitboss feature to make up for it and that the delay of the pitboss server will remain the only casualty because of this.

Well on Amazon it is the number 1 game in sales today and number 4 in electronics overall....... I think the question is answered

Yah, and we've all never seen a developer so over-whelmed, disorganized of just plain clueless that even after having been given months of extra time they still put out a flop and then whine that they didn't have enough time to finish it. We've never seen that at all, right? Right?

*points to QS and MOO3*

Hey, as one of the damned souls who pre-ordered MOO3 (my $50 shall be avenged), I regard the whole event as a valuable learning experience. It's a cautionary tale. Sort of like a ghost story for game developers and customers. Woooo!

If it goes gold as soon as it is released i think all people have a right to find a blunt implement and punish themselves for pre-ordering like me.

:wallbash:

And on the subject of Dr Pepper, what came first? Cherry Coke™ or Dr Pepper™? Two different things you sugar-addicted coke drinker people. :goodjob:

Going Gold means being sent off to duplication in the games industry.
