Notepad keeps closing by itself

This is getting to the point of annoyiance. Whenever I am working with notepad or anyting related to a *.txt file. At a random time between 10 sec to 50 sec, it just closes by itself with no save prompt and no error message.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds very strange! Have you scanned for virii & malware? Have you tried wordpad instead?

How did you manage to break notepad?

Most likely a virus. I've gotten a virus that would randomly minimize my windows before, closing notepad wouldn't be too much different. I suggest you save everything of value on your computer to a CD, then reformat the harddrive. It's much easier than to fight an uphill battle against the viruses.

@Ainwood - Wordpad works fine. Ive scanned for spyware and it detected nothing.
