PLEASE HELP ME

You have a laptop, Win7 64-bit and a graphics card with no dedicated memory.

I can't say I know what to do, but what I'd suggest is:

- Make sure you're online, update the game fully and verify steam integrity cache:
Good call. For those that are uninformed like me, right click the game (under library) from within Steam and go to properties. Go to Local Files and press the button.

- Try to start the game in DX10/11 mode and see what happens;

- Check if you can update your graphics card drivers;

- Some users were reporting that installing the game off disc (if you've bought the game as a DVD version) helped, you might try that.

There's a couple of similar threads:
Civ 5 won't start!
Civilization won't open

EDIT
I'm sorry :(, but whoever told you that your computer is strong enough was wrong.
The graphics card is too weak and not supported by Civ5.
Sorry, that machine can not run Civilization 5 .
Ah. My bad then.

hi,
thanks for your response. i tried the program can you run this and i discover that my computer wasn't strong enough. i have my laptop for a couple of years and i'm thinking of buying a new one. does anybode has an idea on which computer i can play this game and games in the future and stil can do my studie on this laptop?

hi,
the site doesn't matter. if i have a typ that i can look for it would be great. the price range is till 400 euro's.

For 400€ you'll not get a laptop with a strong enough graphics card :/.
Desktop PC might work (without monitor), but you'd have to search quite a bit. Can't find anything suitable on amazon.com (but the overview on amazon is awful). Found something on a german site, but can't find the same PC with that name anywhere else.

In general, you'd have to look at the graphics card. Everything which has Radeon 46xx, 56xx or 66xx or higher (meaning second number) or Geforce 46x or 56x or higher (i guess a 5 as second number has to work in that price range) would be suitable. Everything else, including "Intel" in the graphics card name is too weak.

You seemed to be based in Holland, from what I can tell :)
As I do not know of any such dealers etc in that country it would be difficult to be specific to a particular model.
Your total budget of 400 euro'd might be a little limiting but again I am not sure of pricing for your country.

If it does help I have bought laptops for my wife and daughter etc from this company...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-DV6-31...t=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item4cfa755444

they are a part of the Argos group and are well known in the UK.
I noted them as they often sell refurbished laptops and notebooks and reasonable prices.

I appreciate that the above is of no use to you as they will only deliver to the UK. But note its specifications (and the GPU) and the total cost. Try and see if you could find something similar where you are and then post the specs AND the link for us to give you an opinion on whether it would be fit for purpose :)

Hope that helps

As already mentioned, it will be next to impossible to find a laptop even halfway suited for modern games below 400 EUR.

Even in the 400-500 EUR range it will be very tricky to find something.

From a quick glance at what the German shops have to offer, I found exactly one model that I would recommend, which looks actually pretty decent for a laptop:

http://www.computeruniverse.net/products/e90432261/lenovo-ideapad-v570-m57enge-freedos.asp

I will be 450 EUR including shipping to the Netherlands. A problem might be that it comes without Windows, though if you are a college student you might be elegible for a (almost) free license via MSDNAA.
And it will take a few weeks to deliver.

On the plus side, it's on offer from one of the most reputable German online shops.

Graphics card is hard at the minimum requirements, but should be power-wise enough to play the game. But i don't give any guarantees, i might be wrong, that we'll only see if someone tested it.

The Dell won't do.

The HP will be able to run Civ5, but not very well.

You should really consider spending a bit more, you will get a significantly better performance for ~500 Euro.

This laptop should handle the game ok. You may or may not have your leader head screens animated. My HP is about half of that power and I run everything on high settings except the leader heads. Slow down will happen if you reach about 100 cities and 100 units on a huge map.

According to HP it is listed for 529 euro's. That memory is dedicated (seperate from system) memory. It is class 3, but should still work.

i'm still looking for a cheaper one but i cant find one:'( if anybody have a type what i can look for maybe that will help. thanx for all your help!!!
