A Demo Game player recently used espionage functions in the game to spy on a Japanese city. This action required the expenditure of gold, and was conducted outside of the official game play save.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that playing the game outside of the official game is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

Due to this mistake occuring, I have instituted immediate steps:

Chief Justice Actions

1) The use of the save file generated by Stuck as a Mac is strictly forbidden.

2) That file shall NOT be loaded to this site, nor shall the information gained from that espionage be discussed as part of plans for our nation.

Please see the Judicary thread for details.

I remember one time where I hit space while looking at the save. Went on to the next turn..... Took so long to move all the units etc. that I just restarted my computer (It was last demogame sometime).

Many times I have accidentally hit space. I just try to ignore what happens and then reload the original.

EDIT: BTW, this case is an obvious violation of the rules and not an accident. I'm surprised it was Stuck, I would have thought it would have been a mistake by someone new to the demogame.

I can certainly understand the accidental space bar, or the like.

What was key here was the citizen's active use of gold and espionage options to spy on a city. As Falcon points out, a clear violation, and one an experienced player should not have committed.

To SaaM's credit, he admitted the mistake and is open to any punishment the citizens will find necessary.

hang him! just kidding, i think almost everyone can say they accidently hit the spacebar, shoot i do it all the time in my own games before i can move units :D

Please Dis. That is a very poor excuse. Stuck has been voted into several offices and attended numerous Turn Chats. I'm sure he's even lowered himself to reading an occasional thread posted here in the forums. There is NO WAY he could not have known what he was doing was illegal. He had to take extra steps (with forethought) to get this sensitive information out of the game and into the chatroom. It was not a mistake, like hitting the space bar, it was a devious little plan that can be compared to some of his poll writing. I can see being lenient on him because he is a 13 year old egotist, but don't put this off as a mistake.

"13 year old egoist".. hehe.. sounds like something I heard in one of my high school classes way back when. ;)

Anyway, even I accidently hit enter once too often or pressed the space bar when looking at trades and tried to exit the screen. Most of the time nothing drastic happened...

I was in the middle of estimating the amount of turns just by city size and possible tiles/corruption when Stuck came along and blurted out the answer.

Anyway, will a formal PI be upcoming? Since, this isn't a Stuck PI thread. :)

very bad thign to happen everyone knows this must not be done so he must accept the consequences sorry

My apologies, Stuck.

I know in Demogame I, I clicked a little too close to the button, and next thing I know, the Aztecs started descending from the north (then Canton, I think) towards Mephis... which had me worried during the next turn chat. :) Fortunately, it never happened (I think it was right around the Iroquois war..)

Hell, when we started this game I took the save a few TCs in and obviously did something wrong, because out of nowhere the Japanese launched an all-out surprise offensive with *dun dun dun* a single Warrior! woo-hoo, I was just shaking! Luckilly (?) they never did that in the real game and I didn't tell anyone (wait, scratch that...)

Fortunately no one is being prosecuted for hitting the space bar.
