NotW XXX: Dark Radiance Game Thread

The ex-commander had just turned around to leave when he remembered something.
“Oh yeah, one more thing. The more I think about it, (OOC: when I actually read my pm properly) that thing that attacked me didn’t look human. It actually looked more like a mutant dog!”

I believe every murder so far was done by that acid things so far.
If the mutant dog is against us, why has it not attacking us since night 1?

"What reason do you have not to believe this mutant dog/werewolf did not cause the acid damage to my door? I watched my door melt and a great big head poke through the hole. I am under no illusion that this werewolf thing has the use of acid. Which gives us something more worrying in the fact there must be at least two of these creatures? And they apparently heal pretty fast as well unless they are getting help in that department."

"Look at my post where I quote Winston. I was trying to lure someone already aware of the identity of the killer to reveal themself, although the lure must have been either too subtle or simply too far-fetched."

You know, I really don't think Diamondeye would be so forward about getting someone killed that he knows is innocent if he's a wolf. Maybe we don't lynch everyone he says to, but I am finding the odds not good for him to be a wolf.

Just my opinion.

Does anyone have a substantive reason to vote for anyone?

"I'm afraid not. Since I am of substantially more use than Methos who has yet to prove any use or even talk to me, I'd rather let him than me go."

"I don't know what the dog was doing on day 1, but I found out that the dog killed... Blame's sister. Last night. An eyewitness happened to be lurking in her room when she was killed. The monstrous dog smelted its way through the door to her room with acid aswell, so I guess it is capable of these thing.

I want the research notes. I'll make their contents public knowledge. And Rhawn has told me that if someone can get him a rifle, he can pick off one of the two approaching figures if we are in need of that.

Has anyone got a rifle and do we want to make that move, people?"

Dog/werewolf attacked you directly, while the acid thing seems to be a indirect attack... Some kind of a spell or something. That was what I was thinking for the whole time. But it seems I was wrong.

So if we can manage to fend off the attackers some how, perhaps we can take a look at the attackers face?

Why did these people get murdered? I would not think WWs merely pick names out of a hat!

1) Choxorn - communications officer
Choxorn did nothing special, merely bandwagoned a vote to lynch the guilty Autolycus. Revenge? Choxorn wasn't instrumental in Autolycus' death. Job description? Perhaps cutting off the lines of communication could be important to WWs somehow. Threat to WWs? No votes made.
Choxorn showed no public evidence of trusting someone else.
Choxorn had no lynch votes against him.

2) Renata - just a corporal
Renata bandwagoned a vote to lynch the guilty Autolycus. Revenge? Renata wasn't instrumental in Autolycus' death. Job description? None given. Threat to WW's? Renata did vote to lynch Sprig and DiamondEye.
Renata showed no public evidence of trusting someone else (well I think he trusted me! - PM evidence).
Renata had lynch votes made against him by Catharsis, Rhawn.

3) Backwards Logic - welder
Backwards Logic bandwagoned a vote to lynch the guilty Autolycus. Revenge? Backwards Logic wasn't instrumental in Autolycus' death. Job description? Perhaps being able to repair structures might worry WWs if they need to take down the facility. Threat to WWs? Backwards Logic did threaten to lynch CivPlayah.
Backwards Logic showed no public evidence of trusting someone else.
Backwards Logic had a lynch vote made against him by DiamondEye.

4) Stee - technician assistant
Stee did nothing much at all! Revenge? No reason. Job description? Perhaps the WWs want to take down the power (or the whole structure) and we are starting to have electrical troubles. Threat to WWs? No votes made.
Stee showed evidence of trusting Nictel mostly but also seemed to trust Beefy and Lemon.
Stee had no lynch votes made against him.

BTW My prototype suspicion-o-meter is pointing at Rhawn. But it's very alpha stages, untested, and there's not a lot to go on yet.

If anyone wants to add or disagree with anything here - please do!!!

OOC: Blame these are good observations. I believe the two primary reasons for kills are:
Metagaming: "What roles are important?". This was clearly the case with Choxorn, and probably Stee too. Backwards Logic could also fall under this category.
Former experience: This is most likely what happened to BL and Renata. Someone among the wolves are afraid of the experienced players and/or players which they usually talk to and who would suspect them sooner or later. I think this is plausible to use as BL's death cause (just look at his signature :p)

Combining the cynicism that it takes to kill someone you know and play with this early (especially Renata's case was bastardly) and the metagamish line with someone who knows/plays with Renata and BL, we get these likely wolves:

1st Private (Female): Diamondeye
3rd Private (Female): Nictel
Cook (Male): askthepizzaguy
Government Representative (Male): TheForestAuro
Janitor (Male): civplayah
Rifleman (Male): Winston Hughes
Second In Command (Male): Methos
Security Officer (Male): Catharsis
Sharpshooter (Male): rhawn

This is a list constructed with an attempt at impartiality.
We can strike out Methos as he has been inactive until now. That leaves eight prime suspects (of which I am one).

From my judgement thus far, I would find it unlikely that the following persons on that list are guilty: Diamondeye, Nictel (Not sure), Catharsis.
I have some sort of trust in: AskThePizzaGuy (Not sure), TheForestAuro.
I strongly suspect to find a wolf among: Civplayah, rhawn, Winston Hughes.

I hope people follow this reasoning and keep the nine people on the list and especially those three listed just above in mind.

The problem with my suspicion-o-meter is that I haven't developed an algorithm to cross-check suspects with other suspects. Looking at it visually however:
- It is unlikely that Catharsis and Rhawn are both WWs (although both have a high rating)
- It is unlikely that Nictel and Rhawn are both WWs (although both have a high rating)
- It is unlikely that DiamondEye and Rhawn are both WWs (note that DE has a low rating)
- It is unlikely that ATPG and Civplayah are both WWs (although both have a moderate rating)

- It is possible that both Civplayah and Rhawn are both WWs (although Civplayah only has a moderate rating).

Based on this above information and the numerical rating I created from a some algorithms, I suggest that Rhawn has a high probability of being a WW!

OOC: Blame please mark out of character-posts with "OOC".

I would agree that Rhawn looks suspicious. As such, I'll unvote Methos and vote rhawn instead.

More activity from the rest of the people here would be appreciated. We need activity to win, innocent!

OOC: If 1+1=2 then Rhawn, if not well then Blame, we'll have a look tomorrow. (Also far too busy with school )

"If anyone wants to speak to me, I'll be having a smoke outside."

OOC-

Spoiler :
The fact that Renata died is basically proof I'm not a werewolf. Renata died early in two out of the last three NOTW games I was in. I rotate out who I kill so people can actually enjoy the game once in a while. There are a few things I don't do in games; lurking is one of them, always going after the same person is another. I wouldn't deviate from that unless it was a mini-game and I was basically forced to kill the same person again. Not that you'll believe me, but I have well more than a dozen games as a bad guy under my belt; you will see the pattern holds, out of perhaps 40 or 50 games I've played. I'm set in my ways.

OOC: I tend to believe you and that's why your position on that list is as light as it is. It lists merely the people I deem capable of comitting such cynical acts in general. That wouldn't be above either of us, ATPG.

I know. That's a general reason why it can't be me. I'd list a specific reason why I'm innocent, but everyone should know what that is.

Khazaar wants to take a look at the research notes, maybe I can make some sense of them.

Diamondeye, I'm being patient and you presently have my support. But that doesn't mean I automatically follow you. Why rhawn, besides that inconclusive analysis? What is to stop someone who hasn't played in a while with Renata from killing Renata? Honestly I think you assume too much. That's risky, because we might end up devoting several rounds to chasing a false assumption which has pretty good odds of being incorrect. I don't want to pigeon-hole us in a certain and possibly incorrect direction.

Also, I think it is a false assumption to strike out Methos. Just because he's been inactive, that doesn't mean his wolf partners didn't handle the murders while he was gone. You make too many assumptions that could very easily be false for me to necessarily follow you this time.

I hope you'll take this as constructive criticism, as it is intended.

(Ghost comment: In character, please, at least more so than this. This is NOTW. :hammer:

Why does the female medic need to look at the research notes?

Also, did I miss something? When did the research notes appear? I don't see anything in the past two writeups about research notes. Maybe I haven't been taking notes of my own...

I'm not really sure, maybe they are talking about the referene books, which aren't research notes at all?
