November Folly

just pm the host and it should be fine i think

Okay, I sent you an email Phabuk. Respond with your email and I will get you fixed up.

To all - apparently, the server is down right now. I will not be able to check it out for 4 or 5 hours. Not sure what the issue is, but will get it back up.

Note to Self: If last player to take turn don't preset a course for units or a double move may be assumed.

what are you talking about? Units don't move before the timer run out unless you login of course...

I took my turn and had units preset to move a couple of tiles and ended turn and they moved on the next turn. Isn't that a double move?

Um double moves are fine in peace... Just don't do it when waring or interacting with others. In fact double moves are very good as they greatly speed up the pace of the game...

Ending turn is good otherwise we have to wait a day. This second turn was realy fast, completed in 2 hrs. Lets keep it up.

Exactly, but during the wartime, we all have agree to be gentlemnts and wait for other side to complete his turn... :) At least 12 hours :)

Double turns

It is possible to take a 'double turn' in the game by being the last to finish for one turn and then the first to finish the one after that. This has a positive effect because it speeds the game up, but the downside is that it can be exploited for military advantage by moving twice before your opponent has a chance to react.

So to keep the upside of double turns while eliminating (or at least minimizing) the downside, the rule is that if you are at war with another player (or are about to go to war with them, eg. sneak attacks) then you mustn't take two turns before they've had a chance to take one, or in other words you cannot go after them in one turn and before them in the next.

You can use the civstats log page for the game, or the RSS feeds from the same page, to tell if the other player has taken their turn (ask me about this if you don't know what I'm talking about).

One exception: you may always take your turn when 12 hours have passed on the turn timer (since the timer seems to run slow this will probably be a bit more than 12 real hours), regardless of whether they have taken their turn or not, otherwise it'd risk you not having a chance to take your turn at all. Ideally though, you should talk to your opponent(s) and come to an arrangement about the order you are going to take your turns in.

reading is in fact technology. If we all are online now maybe we could all log in and play several turns?(though i kinda doubt as someone always end up disappearing and hence this is pretty much impossible without planing...

We will probably have to plan that. If you want, players can send me a 'schedule' of when they 'might' be able to block some time.

E. G. Mon 18:00 - 20:00 GMT, Sat 8:00 - 10:00 GMT

No one will be held to these, this is just to get an idea if there is a preferable time. Please put time in GMT if you send in times. This is local time -Time zone. So I am in -6 GMT (central time zone), so GMT is current time -(-6), which is +6. It is almost 15:55 local (CST), so that is almost 21:55 GMT.

PS: That is more for me to figure out how to do it than anything else :D.

Yes, sessions are very good indeed. I have no generally time when I can/can't play, but I'm sure I can always plan my days if we agree a session at least a day before.

I can't play during classes but otherwise i should be able to fit in sessions if planned beforehand...

It would have to be on Tuesdays sometime for me. Going to be starting a second job soon will be available only to take turns otherwise. Darn real life catching up.

You can't play other than tuesdays? It works with my schedule but i bet it would be wierd for someone else...

yeah it would but that would put you at a severe disadvantage as the AI is notoriously stupid...
