Novice looking for PBEM game

standard map has 7 we could eliminate 1 AI <or all 3>

peaceful game / every one for themselves
time culture space diplomatic / normal speed
regular barbs / no tech trading / custom continents 1 per civ

question for G - if you normally play on prince will we be enough of a challenge? although my profile says chief I play warlord and try to play noble <I know how to chop settlers but usually rush my turns between deliveries at work. I still auto my workers, sometimes>

as for the patches I have read the horror stories and do not wish to risk the company computer

accelerated start <medieval> gives out the first 4 religions randomly so if we eliminate all AI we would be guarenteed 1 each. keep the AI and someone might lose out. we can discuss preferences for this.

I've never started PBEM game either and would defer to someone who has.

If everyone agrees with the settings above then it looks like we got a game

groovy. my email is egypt803 at hotmail dotcom - can snowgod and xatsmann leave their emails and i'll get this game started - or if anybody else fancies starting it off then they'd be welcome to save me messing it up .
i'd prefer to start from beginning rather than 2nd era but am happy to go with the majority.
and apologies in advance but i'm going to be away from friday night till monday night so won't be able to play this weekend. either there'll be a bit of a break in game or we can start on mon? :-(

How many players do we have now? If we're up to fivex--let's wait another few days and start over the weekend, maybe we can get to seven.

Are we playing with teams or not? So far I see two votes against and that's it...anyone else want to vote?

I'll start this weekend if no one else wants to....we can start on Sunday and make SG the last player so he can go first thing on Monday and e-mail it back to me okay?

Do we have to play peaceful so peacefully--I like leaders who don't work and play well with others. Can't we have a domination win at least? I am willing to eliminate the conquest win. Domination/Diplomatic/Cultural/Space race wins would all be available...is that acceptable to everyone?

GMT -8, West coast. Have vanilla loaded at work so would have no problems playing during the week.

I've been playing for a while but way down on the skill curve but I won't run when the beat down starts.

I am probably not a good player for team play as I don't want to handicap someone else.

Thanks onclouds....once we get the line up set and game conditions agreed upon..I have no problem with you starting the game. The only condition I have is that we try and keep those of us near GMT -5 (EST) together since snowgod can only play at work. Ideally we should be seinding himi our move at the end of the night or early in the morning during the week to allow SG to do his move while he is at work.

I'm fairly neutral about war, so to speak, was happy to agree to snowgod's suggested options earlier but would be equally to happy to go with war or domination victory if that is what the majority decides.
And welcome all newcomers - the more the merrier.

I don't think you can do an advanced start in civ iv (it was new in BtS) but we can start in the classical era which is the one after ancient. I will put it up for a vote on the new thread...

SG... pls edit your first post with a colection of the settings everyone spoked about and we will be criticizing what you've wrote. =P
I will play whatever settings you think of except no city-razing (been trying it and it sucks =X) and my leader of choice would be Bismarck.
