Nzinga of Matamba

Nzinga of Matamba : 3D animated, era specific leaderhead. 2022-07-27

Wow! What an improvement! Not that there was anything wrong with her before, but that is just great.

Actually, she looks just like my girlfriend, but with longer hair. Somehow I'm sure I can use this as an excuse to be allowed more Civ time...

Looking good R8XFT! :) I think i've already seen it in the Anno Domini thread though...

And you said all poser leaderheads look alike. This, my friend, is complete and total bull****.

I actually said that poser leaderheads resemble people, but always look like a poser leaderhead.....my best friend - and greatest critic  - thinks that all my leaderheads look more or less the same; whilst I don't fully agree with her, I can see what she means.

The new Nzinga - which has been seen in the Anno Domini thread as a potential new leader (but renamed as Nzinga wasn't around at the time) - is part of my attempt to improve my artwork so that it looks more realistic and less like just another morph of Victoria 3 (or Michael 3 for the male LHs). I guess Anno Domini is a real test for the leaderheads because I'm hoping to end up with 31 leaderheads that don't look like each other but are all realistic representations of leaders of the time. I haven't quite got there yet, but have a few days off work to come shortly when I'll be improving the ones I've done so far and also concentrating on the mechanics of the mod. We'll see how they turn out.

Wow,

she really became most beautyful.

As for the the same looking leaderheads .. you definitivly have an unique style and yes especially your early leaderheads e.g. in summer looked very similiar, but you improved very very fast.

If you like critics, then .. well ..
Actually the only thing I not completely like are the hairs of your leaderhead.Nzinga has nice hairs, but Cleopatra looks different. The LHs of Firaxis always seems to have a little moving hears (and furs). I think that is really difficult.

Regrettably, the prop I used for Cleopatra was not easy to use or to make any different. I thought it looked ok, but can revisit it. Using Poser 5 hair, which I have before, slows down the render time to a virtual halt.
My leaderheads used to take about 80 minutes to render. With the extra detail and the more professional rendering, it's now about 3-4 hours. During that time, my PC can't really be used for anything else: it's a powerful machine, but Poser 5 takes over processing power in a big way. This aspect is important to me, as I need to use my PC regularly for non-Civ 3 stuff. When the leaderhead's rendering, you've got to do all 121 frames in one sitting - it gets more trouble than it's worth if you do it in bits.

I'll use hair that takes what seems like forever to render if - but only if - it significantly improves the leaderhead. Perhaps I'll do that with Cleopatra if I can find the right hair for her; but I wouldn't for Nzinga, for example, as I'm happy with her hair.

I have to say I always think your hair looks good - better than the hair on most of Civ Army's LHs, for example (I think that's often a weak point of his). Certainly the hair on this one looks fine. It's such a step above the earlier ones, though - so much better definition. My girlfriend says I'm allowed to use it but only if I make sure it has her name!

Which is.....??

Then I can post xxxx of Kent (is it??), a new 3D leaderhead from R8XFT ;) .

One other question, Plotinus.....does your girlfriend go from estatically happy to very angry in just 121 frames ;) :mischief: :joke: ?

Oh, I can make her go the other way in fewer frames than that... sorry, had to be said!

Actually she's from London but by a strange coincidence went to university in Canterbury, a place she loves. I love it too because I used to go there frequently when I was younger, being from Folkestone. So if you can find a University of Kent backdrop for the LH and give her a purple streak in her hair I can tell you her name...

Okay....

Now that's scary! Her hair's quite a bit shorter and I don't think she was in the habit of wandering around in nothing but a necklace, even at university, but all the same... She agrees that it's an eerily accurate likeness! Although I fear not many other people would have any use for it...

I think it looks great...Plotinus if that is a good resemblance to your girlfriend you are a lucky man indeed. :)
