O/T Proposal (I am being serious)

I have a proposal for O/T. First, I want it to be known that this is a serious proposal, I think it might actually, you know, help!!!

I propose that we create and Sticky threads about recurring topics in Off-Topic. This way, we can discuss those recurring topics in one thread, and not have to create a billion different threads about that topic. It would also make it easier for Mods, they wouldf only have to Moderate some threads about one topic, rather then all kinds.

Some ideas for creating these kinds of threads would be one about the upcoming US Federal Election, I constantly see LOTs of threads about that. Another one might be for the upcoming Canadian Election, well, it MIGHT be upcoming . . .

Those are some examples that come to mind, I doubt having just one for Current Events would work very well, but anyway, this is an Idea that I think would work well, and cut down on the number of threads in O/T . . .

If the threads get replies, they stay on top, if they don't they fall down the list.

So, for your idea, we would have one 'Iraq' thread and everything that deals with Iraq would go in that thread? or one 'President Bush' thread?

What if someone posts about Iraq and how it relates to President Bush? Which thread does it go into?

Trying to keep discussions of many topics in one thread seems like it would complicate the discussions even further since people would have to constantly quote around any other topics that come up in the thread.

Me thinks this is going to have the same thing happen to it as your last proposal for OT. The Duke is right. Basicially there to many different topics for one thread.

Bah. Oh well, I was just trying to make O/T navigatable, currently everything is everywhere, and, unless you spend a lot of time on it, you simply cannot keep up with it . . .

We NEED a stickied Canadian election thread! I'm so sick and tired of all those really cool guys posting and reposting their threads!

I like OT like it is. The threads recur, but they usually have a slightly different spin. Plus there are nevere more than a page and a half of new posts in threads...

Each different thread is somewhat different so I don't think that there should be uber threads. I hate when threads get too large because some people don't read the whole thing and end up getting in the same arguments over and over.

Well if there's usually a lot of threads on the one topic, you will see one sticky from a mod saying "stop making all these threads on the same topic, use the ones that are already there". and that's about all you need really.

I knew this would be in this post somewhere. can you just leave it alone already? getting quite annoying.

WOOO! Join the club! Our school's transformer broke and we got no classes today!

It's funny, I live in Minnesota, in my high school we've had more days off school for power outages than snow days

YAAAA!!! Although the funny thing about this strike is that the Health Care workers went on Strike, then, just to defy the government, the School Support Staff went on strike, and, also to defy the government, Techers refused to cross the picket lines, essentially meaning no school, I think . . . funny thing is that my Mom is a School Support worker, and she's on the picket lines. Lol!

Everyone seems so intent on defying the Gov't, I am sure this wouldn't happen in the US, although it is quite funny. I have plans with friends . . .

Anyway, the nearest passing Mod can close this, the idea went no where . . .

I love school strikes. (I got Febuary off one year)
