OCC Deity Diplo Victory Guide

I had 4-5 RAs most of time.

If I remember correctly you can't rush production of UN with a GE that's why I used it on cristo.

Open order was a waste, coups and Austria's marriage of some cultural CS slowed me a lot. Like atarihuana says things never go as planned.

I don't do the declare war all thing, feels cheesy, I grab all AI cash with my huge gpt, feels more "elegant".
Ok, I thought I was missing something. Thanks for clarification. :)

Great guide! Thanks for the tips. I'm currently playing an OCC as Monty and plan on doing a Diplo victory. Never done an OCC Diplo victory before.

Mongolia is my neighbor and I plan on liberating a few of the CS he is currently attacking so that should help me as well but I doubt I will have such a good finish time. Ill have to keep perfecting it.

If you checked OCC when setting a game you would not be able to liberate CS. If you conquer city it burns to the ground in a second.

Sincere thanks for this guide - just got me my first ever deity win :D Took me more like 250 turns but felt great. Everyone spent the whole game warring right in front of my face, ended up with 3 adjacent neighbours even though I was backed into a mountain range / sea! Got DoWed enough to kill a few RAs, but everyone was so bloodthirsty I only ever had to deal with a few dozen units.

Especially appreciate the turn timer about what should be happening when. Think I got my openings down, but the lategame stuff really helps to know how "on track" I am.

Cheers! :king:

Thanks, I found this out the hard way. I like OCC but haven't done much OCC war'ing I usually play peaceful. So when I tried to liberate a CS that Mongolia had taken - poof, it was gone.

IMO this shouldn't happen. There should be an option of liberate or raise. I think this is a major oversight for OCC. Why should OCC be penalized and not able to liberate CS? I would assume liberating an AIs capital is also out of the question then.

This can't be working as intended.

I think it is working exactly as intended (and yes it also applies to AI capitals). If you want the flexibility to liberate, just don't check the OCC box and play with one city.

In fact, you can get an OCC domination win utilizing this mechanic. (Advise you do it before the AI gets to Flight.)

Good idea, next time I won't check the OCC box. I still think one should have the option of liberating if playing a true OCC. Don't see why the CS should just go poof - without the liberate option. It's not like I want the city or am going to take it for my own.

Liberate or Raise should be the options if a CS/capital was taken by another AI.

As for your advice "In fact, you can get an OCC domination win utilizing this mechanic. (Advise you do it before the AI gets to Flight.) " Why do you say before they get flight? Just to hard to fight as OCC during flight? No forward cities to harbor your planes?

What are some finish times I should be aiming for? Lets say standard speed, standard map size for Emperor and Immortal?

Not quite up to Deity yet lol.

I tried today playing Emperor and got a 221 Diplo Win, so there's a benchmark . Mountain and a river but not an awesome spot.

Started Scout->Monument->Granary->GL->Artemis->HG->NC->Oracle->Hagia Sophia (bought stone works and water mill).

Later i built lots and lots of wonders :D I grabbed Alahambra, CI and SC and as there were lots of culture CS I got Aesthetics and finished Freedom and Rationalism.

Emperor AIs were always broke so I had to gift them gold to sign RAs.

I did CS barb quests all over the map. Emperor AI is quite inoperative.

nice, looks like about 10 academies settled. how many did you pop to get to globalization? and i know its emperor but its still surprising to see muskets as the opponent's highest tech unit on the map when you get globalization.

Thanks, 221 is impressive. I think I'm around turn 232 in my Emperor OCC as Monty and I still have a few techs to go before Globalization. Bismarck is a runaway on my map killing off all my RA partners. He is on the otherside of the map and I don't really have any access to help out.

He killed Sweden on turn 30 when my RA would have been up. I got the pop'up thinking the RA had gone through only to read the tooltip and it was that our RA was cancelled. Talk about a waste of 450g.:cry:

Plus I've been in a 150 year war with Alex and Genghis on 2 fronts. Can't devote the troops to Bizmark and no other AI can stand up to him. I'm leading in tech and currently have all the CS as allies so I should be in good shape for a win.

This map has been challenging and a blast but not going to set any records...

Can you confirm that I can rush build the UN with my GE I have been saving up?

Yes, I confirm it, and also that you can gift City States the turn you cast your vote.
If war slows you down, just give your money away for GPT and accept peace.
With Monty you can't expect to be as fast as with Nabu btw.

I think I only settled 6 GS/academies and was very low on RA. But I still should set a decent time for me at least. I also have Oxford I'm saving for the last tech.

I should have taken peace but I had to get rid of 3 Cities Alex dropped right in my face surrounding my city and potential border expansions as well as I wanted to knock back the Mongols who started settling cities south of me and before I had 5-10 Keshiks on my doorstep.

I was successful but I'm still fairly slow in my war'ing as I'm cautious to not lose units.

I really appreciate your posts and tips for OCC.

Do you play true OCC "box checked" or do you play regular and just limit yourself to OCC? I ask because I was frustrated I couldn't liberate CS that Alex and Genghis took over. Going to be tight on the vote with Sweden gone as well as 3 CS.

On a side note, I'm trying to play through this OCC game as best as I can but also trying to see how big I can get my city. I believe I'm currently pop 49 and could likely get 55 by the time the vote is held.

Always OCC checked, I only fight to make peace, you gain nothing fighting unless I have superior units then I sometimes raze neighboring cities or stay fighting to get some Generals to plant citadels and for fun.

You only need 9 votes if you built the UN, and at least 1-2 AI will vote for you, so with only 7 CS alive you can still win.

Thanks for the tips, they are very helpful. I'm quite enjoying OCC.

Got my win. Turn 270. All CS allied with me and I managed to get 16 votes.

Again it was Emperor, Standard size, Pangaea, Standard Speed. 54 pop city. I didn't try to string out the victory at all but if I did I could have easily hit 60 pop.

I also sold my science buildings. I think I peaked out at 970 beakers or something.
