Odd problem with saved games crashing

I'm playing civ 4 from the disk. I haven't had it that long but have an odd recurring problem. When I save a game that may be around 650 kb, next time I come back it reads precisely 1379kb . I have 3 same games with the same number, and when I try to play them theyt start and then crash. I had some good games going that are now unavailable to me. Is this a known bug?

I don't have the answers for you since I haven't used a Disk in 10 years, but I am aware of issues with disk versions and Win 10. I think there may be ways of getting it to work though.

Let folks know what OS you are using, and the version of Civ IV. If Windows, make sure you "run as administrator" when installing, and also set your executable to "run as administrator". Oh, and let us know if you are using any Mods. My guess is you are either on Win 10, or otherwise have a bad install.

Note: I've requested a thread move, but you also might find a related thread over in the Tech Forum that has your answers...sometimes issues may be related indirectly.
