Odd UU/UB choices?

Maybe a bit old here, but anybody else think the Minuteman should be a cheaper, inferior version of the Musketman?

They should be or else it wouldn't make much sense. It would be very weird if the Minutemen would be stronger then Musketmen, since the Minutemen weren't more than simple Militia.
I think and hope that it would be something like that:
Minuteman (America): Cheaper but weaker version of the Musketman, making them easy to replace.
Musketman (Every other Civilization): Your typical 1530-1800 infantry unit, medium cost and medium strength.
Janissary (Ottomans): Better than the other two but still inferior to Musketeer. Better against fortified units and cities.
Musketeer (France): Very strong but also very expensive infantry unit. Better than Musketman and Minuteman, but expensive to replace.

whats wroing with the name chinese paper maker?

On that basis, the Wat and the Bazaar and the Floating Gardens wouldn't exist.

i definitely disagree on bazaar, since most people know about those in some way. wat could go either way. floating gardens, i'd say you're probably right.

I don't get why the minutemen would have to be weaker than the run of the mill musketmen. As true as it is that they were worse in real history, I don't think any civ to date has sported a UU strictly inferior to what it replaces (Civ3 Cossack? XD)

While its lower cost makes a whole lot of sense I think having that and the same stats as a regular musketman will fit just fine.

Above Monarch, the Jaguar and Dog Soldier kinda sucked.

yeah, early UUs were a waste on higher difficulties.

Except..... the QUECHA!

Not only do they kick Archer ass, they also say 'I hate you'! Who doesn't want that?

minutemen would make sense as a musket version of jaguar/dog soldier. 1 less strength, a couple extra defense bonuses for cities and forests, then the lower cost we're all assuming. should be fun.

maybe they could have higher mobility?

See, that's why I suggested a Frontiersman. Minutemen lived in Boston. They weren't expert forest soldiers, they trained in the middle of a city.

I would just say MUCH cheaper but inferior strength-wise.

with one unit per tile, much cheaper but weaker may rarely be of advantage.

yeah, i was just thinking about all the sniping from tree branches during the revolutionary war. maybe frontiersmen would be a better name.
