Oil executives collectively orgasm: Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth "junk science"

I leave beliefs for religion. I prefer facts for science.

BTW, from the Hawking thread...

In the 1970s, space scientist Gerald O'Neill came up with the idea of 10km-long aluminium tubes orbiting Earth and predicted that, by the 1990s, millions of people would be living in them.

Not everything that scietists predict becomes true.

Even if global warming is a problem, the global warming alarmists don't offer any solution to fix it.
Alternative energy, increased efficiency, hydrogen economy, nuclear energy, carbon sequestration, those seem like a lot of solutions. They might not fix it completely but they could be a big help.

Everything they've suggested have backfired.
In what manner? Tell me an example of a global warming reduction measure backfiring.

Even These are the same people that forced McDonalds to use styrofoam cups back in the 70's to save trees, but in the 1990s we find out that styrofoam cups destroyed the ozone layer.
Are they all really the same people? And does occasionaly being wrong make one always wrong? And is your claim actually factually accurate? I doubt all three

I'm waiting for Gore and the other global warming alarmist to come up with another styrofoam idea.
So are you claiming that ideas like alternative energy, increased efficiency, hydrogen economy, nuclear energy, and carbon sequestration are doomed to failure? Explain how?

Really, you'd be delusional if you'd think that environmentally concerned folk haven't been able to solve problems with the environment witout causing other major problems. Point source water pollution reduction is an excellent example of a concerted effort bringing about enviornmental change reaping huge net positive effects. Certainly global warming may not be totally corrected for, but reduction in impact with comparitively minimal negative side effects is possible.

The last portion of Gore's movie is devoted to ways we can help reverse the situation. Yet another person who hasn't seen it spouting off when he doesn't know what he's talking about... *sigh*

And I'm not aware of environmentalists "forcing" anyone to use styrofoam cups. In fact, I'd call that patent bullfeathers. Styrofoam is, after all, a product of the Dow Chemical Corporation, and not something environmentalists would be likely to endorse. They were indeed strong proponents of discontinuing the use of styrofoam, however.

The civilised world agreed that humans are causing global warming a long time ago...

And some point even Bush was concinced for crying out loud... Pentagon describes global warming as a major threat to America...

Take your head out of the sand will you?

Ah, so if most people(or even climatologists) believe it it must be true!

Wow, thanks.

No thanks for your sarcasm.

For the sake of argument, let's say I think you're stupid. Most people believe that this is not so. What's true?

You cannot argue argumentum ad populum simply by being a minority.

The last global warming thread suggests the opposite--compared to previous such threads, a large number of dissidents were willing to come out and say they don't believe the quoted piece above.

The vast majority of climatologists believe there is global warming. Since they're the experts, I would have to believe them. Also, I've noticed that most people who argue against global warming are doing it for political rather than scientific reasons.

A completely different discussion is how much of global warming is due to human activity. That is where honest people can disagree, because nobody knows.
