Ok, who is not so happy with the patch?

I'm afraid I am. The first thing I saw after installing the patch and starting a new game: Run time error, "Your system has run out of video memory".

And this with a patch that was supposed to reduce memory problems. Note, before I could play with all graphics settings on high, even if it was quite slow on large or huge maps. Small or standard maps, which I play mostly, worked fine (I actually never had CTD's before).

Now, I tried the memorysave option, it didn't help at all. Then I lowered my graphics settings to medium, and could play again (haven't turned memsaver off again, might be that it only works because I use both that and lower gfx settings together).

IMO this must be a bug...the game worked before with high gfx settings, and after the patch it doesn't anymore.

To me it looks really good speed wise in game, but it hasn't solved my number one problem: Changing to next turn after loading a game. It can still take several minutes, and can only be speeded up using alt+tab, but not seeing many people reporting this it is probably only a dual processor related bug.

I have a dual processor and haven't notice what you are talking about. Also on dual processors you can assign civ4 (as well any program) to run only on one processor.

Maybe it is only Windows 2000 related. Are you sure I can assign a program to one processor in W2K?

Patch? What patch?

The patch is not available. If I try to update the game I am told my 1.09 version is up to date.

IDK but with XP under processes in task manger I can right click any program and have "Set affinity" option. This option allows me to assign either one or both processors to that program.

I can't even start the game with the patch - it has broken the ME version of MSVCR71.DLL.

Tried increaseing AGP Apperature (spelling?) size in BIOS?

P.S.
That's amount of physical RAM that is used for by Video card, if all data can't fit on video RAM.

The patch wont even install for me. It tries to install itself in a weird directory - C:\Windows\Assets - Anyone else had this problem?

Not happy, I'm only interested in Civilization for the multiplayer aspect of it. The MP is still too buggy to be playable on a regular basis and this patch doesn't seem to do anything to fix it. Oh well maybe next patch.. as I've said twice before.

I'm really surprised at the quality of the code as it entered 'gold' status. Apparently they never tried playing more than a handful of MP games in testing since the lobby was completely broken for everyone when it was first released.

Sorry for the rant but if players dont make their frustrations known (since reviewers apparently arent saying much) then game companies will continue to get away with premature and unfinished releases.

This really comes from Firaxis's lack of power in the distribution channel. They lack the clout of a developer like, say, Id who will just say a game will come out "when it's ready." Firaxis, and Microprose before them, have to play ball with the big companies that release their products.

That's why Civ is always Christmas rushed.

i am not happy at all with the latest patch!

After patching i got "XML uncatched" screen at start up!

and ingame interface text replaced with "TEXT_KEY_....."

No problem with v1.0 and v1.09 versions!

Definitely whipped.

>- Unit cycling bug in PitBoss and HotSeat

theres again mention of pitboss...but where is pitboss to be found??

I am extremely unhappy with the patch as it has now rendered it unplayable. I can't start a new game as it locks up at the beginning. It doesn't even autosave the game now like it did in 1.09. Huge step backwards for me at least.

Seconded here... Hark's patch did more for me than their "Official" patch
