Would advancing the AT crew work as well? Just wondering why they can hit the enemy artillery, but if then at crew can lend them their LoS, that'd make sense.

I believe Victoria's LOS guide is still valid if anyone wants to do a bit more digging.

Yes - I understand about the drones. Good point well taken,.
The question was prompted not by LOS concerns but by the way I cannot shoot - yet the target reticule that appears only when I can shoot is clearly visible.#
Makes no difference if I move the AT forwards, either.
It's a bug - but if it is LOS or a simple graphical bug with the target reticule I simply do not know.

You need to see the target and you also need the range. Only artillery can shoot over anything even mountain peeks. Hope it helps. I can explain more thoroughly if you want.

But ... isn't the unit in speak an Artillery Army? As OP says, the blue outline on the ground indicates it should be a valid target.

You're correct about the unit being artillery.
I'm a little confused by the other part of your comment though, the blue outline indicates where the unit can move, if they don't have the promotion that allows them to fire after moving, then the blue outline is irrelevant.

Which is what is confusing me about this scene. The mountain blocks LoS of the city, but it also blocks the LoS of the enemy artillery and that is a valid target. All I can think of is that the AT crew is providing LoSz so if it moves forward so it can see the city, it should become a valid target as well.

Right, I guess it's been too long since I played the game, the outline for showing valid targets is a different one, is that red, iirc? I got the two confused, sorry about that.

Your artillery needs to have range 3 plus someone providing visibility.

Makes no difference if I move the AT forwards, either.
If you move it forwards, you'll then have to wait a turn. Unless you have 2 movement left. Nvm, it still wouldn't have visibility.

Just get range up to 3 and it should shoot over mountains.

Do you have 3 range and 2 movement left on the artillery? The button shouldn't be greyed out even without sufficient range. So it might be lack of sufficient movement?

Right... it seems that the artillery doesn't have indirect fire promotion anymore which allows it to shoot over anything like it used to in civilization 5 if i remember correctly. :hmm:

Cannot recall if this was the case or not. Sorry.
The issue for me is that I have the 'valid target' red circle, the enemy is 2 tiles away.
If I cannot shoot, then why is the red targeting circle visible?

I have this regulary with ranged units in cities. The unit has a red circle but can't shoot while the city walls can shoot just fine.
