Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya BB WWII Russian

Wolfie: I would to. ;) If you find an image showing otherwise, I will change it! Or I might even make a lighter coloured version just for you!

GO: I am working on the Littorio atm, and the Dunkerque next, what was the Sovietsky again?

Dang... this is starting to smack of the USS Iowa thing again...

Just how many Russian WWII Battleships do we need when so many other nations need ships and have none!

Now what SHOULD have happened was the Russian Gangut WWI Dreadnought should have been modeled (for WWI Dreadnought requirements), and the Sovietski-thingie should have been used for the WWII Russian battleship... now, the WWII version of the Gangut is done, so it doesn't fit-in for a WWI Dreadnought anymore, and if you make the Sovietski, then you have two WWII Battleships for Russia when other nations have none! (sounds like the Iowa fiasco all over again!)

I say we've done enough Russians for now... let's keep moving in a circle, and when all other nations get a ship, then you come back to the Russians... no need to keep doing more and more Russian WWII battleships!

Why not? During the 80's they were generally considered the best navy in the world, and had twice as many surface ships as America did.
Just playing the devil's advocate.

Actually, I am going to go with Wolfe on this one. Let's do Italy, France, Britain, then maybe back to Russia, Italy, and France again. :D

My suggestions:

Littorio
Dunkerque
King George V
Sovietsky
Aquila
Bearn

:goodjob:

Start listing 1980s ships and we'll think about... but in the meantime everyone else is focusing on WWII and prior.

Just playing Captain Obvious.

Good Lord... not again!

England WWII Battleships already done:
HMS Hood
HMS Queen Elizabeth

Now you want to rush-off and do the KGV? I know it's on my list of "possibles", but that's a true backburner in my book... GM/Danrell's HMS Hood is a fine model for a placeholder for England's WWII Battleship... and as I mentioned, the Russians have the Gangut for now...

Let's revise...

Littorio
Dunkerque
Aquila
Bearn

...just about anything else... preferablly Pre-Dreadnought or Dreadnought era...

Sovietsky
King George V

I say let's wrap-up those European carriers (for which we have NONE) before we start redoing battleships that we already have models for.

Again, I'll go along with this. I'm tired of seeing the Langley for all the early carriers in the Wolfshanze mod. :mischief:

Let's just say if Snafu was working on the list Matt has, he'd have the Sovietski and KGV closer to "200" then to "5". There's so many more pressing models that we could be making... from missing carriers, to cruisers, subs and earlier vessels. We'll have plenty of battleships once the Littorio and Dunkerque are done... let's move on to some other categories!

Yes, I just wanted to know what the Sovietski was again, I do not really look forward to doing another Russian BB. *Shudders*.

I think that after the Dunkirk, I will fix up the Queen Elizabeth Class, make it acceptable. She does not need a lot of work, but then she could sub in fine for the British BB. (I do not think of the Hood as a BB).

Wolfshanze, also remember that Smitty is American, and probably does not have a soft spot for the Royal Navy. :p

Well, the only real carriers made up to the 1950's were American, British or Japanese. The French started creating one but didn't quite finish it (as did the Italians and Germans). During the 50's and later on, a lot of the European carriers (save British ones) were decommissioned American and British carriers built during or immediately after the war. There were a few indigenously produced carriers, most would fall under the "modern carrier" category that Wolfshanze has.

True, but there are a number of "what-if" situations where you could use graphics from carrier projects that were either canceled or not followed through. The Graf Zeppelin, Bearn, and Aquila are all good examples of those.

Is it possible to ditch the rails on this thing?

And certainly you're going to want a couple of those "what if" ships in a scenario. If in your scenario, you manage to knock the British out early as the Axis, the chances of completing the Aquila and Graf Zeppelin would be much, much better. So you have to have ship models ready to go for those alternative possibilities.

Hmm, I guess it did not work, let me do that again.

No, I mean it is identical to the original, identical nif, identical dds, no change whatsoever.

Yes, sorry, Try again. :)
