I got a 500 mhz laptop and I it plays conquests incredibly slow. I don't know what I should do settle for a superslow conquests game or just play the original civ3?

I can't just return my games. The reciepts are long gone. Are you suggesting I get civ3 gold edition?

The best solution is to just get a new computer. That may be a while yet, but a faster processor is the only way to run newer games more smoothly.

Probably right. I got other computers I can go to but I am seeing if there is a way to get my computer to run a little faster.

500 Mhz is really very slow. If you could up the ram to at least 256 and not play on large or huge maps with the max amount of civs you could probably get away with a smooth game. I used to play civ3 on a celeron 433 that was many years old and as long as I stayed away from large or huge maps with a large number of civs I was fine with only 192 MB of RAM. That was only for a couple of months before I got a new computer at work and of course it runs a lot smoother on faster comps but you work with what you have in front of you...

I doubt its running conquests any slower than original civ.

on a 450MHz platform, the best i could ever do was small maps, so i'd settle for that if i was you.

I have a 4 or 5- year old Celeron 466 that plays conquests fine, on maps up to standard. It helped a lot when I got the memory up to 382 or something, from 256. :)

Large and huge maps are a pain, though.
