Old subject... Civs

Japanese and Russians are my favorite. I haven't used the Spanish but I think they will be good as well.

Rome is who I play mostly, but I do switch off on occasion. Other favs are America and Germany.

Persia used to be my favorite, until I got PTW. The Ottomans have the same attributes as the Persians (industrious/scientific) but with a better UU, so they're now my favorite.

However, in the DYP game I've got running now, I'm the Egyptians.

I never really had a fave civ... (Except in my days of playing builder when I liked the babs and the persians...)
But I've come to the conclusion, today, that Carthage is the best civ in the game.
GREAT all-purpose traits, beautiful and excellent UU, and cool leader. Can't really beat that, can you? ;)

My favorite civilization is the Germans. On any board or computer game I like to play the Germans. My ancestry is half German and half mutt. I have a soft spot for the Germans.

The civilization I find easiest to win with is the Iroquois. Being expansionist and getting the goody huts with the early scientific advances is immensely useful. The mounted warrior rocks in the early stages of the game. I finally had a battle with immortals against mounted warriors. I thought I would have to kiss my empire goodbye, but the mobility and retreat ability allowed me to wipe out a larger group of immortals.

The early scientific jump and the ability to conquer a large empire early in the game gets me set up pretty nicely for the rest of the game. The early Golden Age is a definite problem though. The Golden Age is almost useless that early.

Japan is a my favorite non-ptw civ to play. Usually you know early whether it's going to be a winner or not; the problem with Japan is that it often starts out in jungle-heavy turf, so the early going can be difficult. But if you make it to Chivalry in decent shape, you can go on a real roll; Samurai are the best all-in-one unit in the game, I think. Attack, defense, pillaging; they can do it all and they're hard to kill off.

Spain is fun in ptw; those conquistadors are great sport. Incredibly annoying to be on the receiving end, because they tend to swoop in and remove all your resources and workers in the first round of a war, while their dogs laugh at you, which can really suck.

i usually always play with the Americans, the traits of industrious and expansionistic are really good, IMO. however, the UU is useless since it comes so late and i generally dont use planes anyway. ive also tried carthage in PTW, and ive heard a lot of good things about Persia and Ottomans, so i think i will try as one of them next game.

Aztecs are good for getting those goody huts .. better IMHO than expansionist civs (the jags are more numerous and useful than a scout) - also they guarantee that you can take your neighbours down very very quickly. But after that the UU is useless (almost) and like the Iroquois such an early GA is pointless.
What I really like about them is that they really have 3 traits though - religious (good for culture), military (nuff said) and in a way they are expansionist too because of the jags.
Of course, if you blow your head start or start on a small island, there's nothing to save you later on.

I usually play as the Persians. Don't know why though, because my favourite culture is the Egyptians :egypt: . I'd play more as the English though if I didn't have to play as scary Lizzie.:king:

I normally play either the Americans, the Romans, the Germans, or the Japanese.

Carthage all the way! Best traits, IMHO, and one of the better UU (though it has been argued that the cost is too inconvenient to make them that useful). My runner ups are Persia and the Ottomans (which, contrary to popular belief, are the same civ! Same attributes, and they both have a fantastic offensive units! Granted, the Sipahi is more powerful, since it has +2 attack as opposed to the +1 for the Immortal). My least favorites are anything with Militaristic (my least favorite trait). Then there are also a few that, no matter how good they may be, I cannot bring myself to play as. I would be too tempted to disband my own empire if I did. :)

Also, though Carthage is strongest in my opinion, and though they are Militaristic, my favorite is certainly Rome! I may never play as them, but I like them (in real life that is) more than any other pre-WWII nation.

Using version 1.07. I am partial to the Babs (highest score), and I also like the egyptians, and persians, who were my fav until my last 2 games. I think if u can get over a rough jungle start with the Japs, then the samurai can do it all for you...

Don't have favorite civ, but i looked back in my saved games and hall of fame and notice that i was usually: Iroques, Japanes, Babylons.. and never only two nation Egypt n Zulu but don't know why.
At the begining i play as Germany and Rome (i like colours). [civ3] [ptw]
