Older versions for low-end computers?

@robfbms,

Are you giving the computer time enough to load the Mod? After you Launch the Mod your computer will go back to Desktop. But Do Not do anything! Wait. On your computer it may take 10 minutes to fully load, maybe more. Don't get impatient please. The 1st time is always the longest.

Yes, it can take several minutes just to get to the loading splash screen. Look at the hard drive light, if it's flashing the game is loading.

Not always (for example, when I had it installed on my G: drive the light doesn't flash). A sure-fire way of knowing is do the 3-finger salute and Task Manager will show Civ4 as running.

So 1 question will be: do you have latest drivers?

second try to install windows 7 - it is possible what you encountered some sort of win xp bug \ or that win 7 can avoid \ work better in your situation.

Not always, in fact for most of the time C2C is loading it either does not show up on the list at all (pre splash screen) or it shows up as not-responding (eg when loading uncached XML or generating map).

You have to use the processes tab, not the applications tab. I have yet to not see it in the processes tab, even if it takes 10 minutes to load.

BTS simply closes, such like an invisible crash, when C2C finished loading. It's not the normal BTS closing to open a mod.

I have mentioned my problems in some other threads: I am able to run C2C, at the beginning it runs smoothly but at later epochs it becomes more and more unstable. My configuration: Win XP PL 32bit, Intel Core2 Duo 3 GHz, 3 GB RAM, low end graphic adapter with 2 GB RAM (3 GB on, low Graphic settings, viewports 40x40, swapfile 4608-9216 etc.). If I decide to switch to windows 7 64 bit, is there a big difference between the Home, Professional and (IIRC) Premium editions?
