Ominous Parallels

My thoughts exactly! His theory about capitalism is absolutely nonsense. The US becoming a dictatorship is something we all need to watch out for, although I think it's highly improbable right now.

Our 2 parties hate each other too much for the US to become a 1 party dictatorship.

Anyway, if a nation's citizens willingly create a dictatorship, then that's what they want, what can anyone really do about it.

Read the interview, read the initial post.

Sincerely, I saw a lot of bullsh*t, and it looks much more like politician garbage than philosophy.
If THAT is the "best philosopher of the time", I think that it's much more worrying than everything he denounce.

I had low expectations when you mention AynRand, but not THAT low. To say he uses a wide brush is to say that, for example, Limbaugh is unbiased. I mention Limbaugh because he and his sort seem to be the target, as much as there is a coherent target. Yet RL is one of the nations strongest advocates of open debate and considering all viewpoints. Not very consistent.

You saw this as aimed at RL and the right-wing? I thought he was having a pop at pretty much everyone.

"You're all wrong, you fools! Why will no-one listen...."

Sorry, I think this guy is two beers short of a six-pack.

Haven't read that one, heard its a good book, my boss has it in his office but he probably won't lend it to me since I cracked one of his CD cases. :(

I'd like to point out that I am not an objectivist. For something that claims to be so closely tied to human nature, it doesn't seem very "human."

Just given the recent happenings, I honestly don't think it's too difficult to believe.

Self-interest and selfishness is good; humans are selfish.

Makes sense to me... well, some sense.

Well, if you eat your vegetables, take your vitamins, and say your prayers... you just might be vindicated some day. Then you can sit on a high horse with your megaphone as say "I told you so" until your hearts content. Or until the American war machines rolls over your corner of Canada in search of living space (we don't use inferior german words :satan: ).
