the forum changes have confused me and couldn't add this to a "former" off-topic Syria thread , so here it goes in the weird r16 way . The thread be moved or deleted at will if inappropriate , the lack of auxilary verb meant to remind ı have no right to say can or must . If off topic comes back ı surely would move the post it there .

by some strange coincidence , the summit on Syria , a BBC documentary on Amelia Earhard and Mrs. Rodham's -since Clinton is a dead giveaway- gushing remarks on the disappeared aviatrix and the search efforts -again- have come together in the last two weeks . The eulogy utterly fails to impress ; America should stick to its comfort woman all over the Pasific line and the BBC gets a royal bah on the comment that she couldn't tank . You are not reaching outta anybody .

the post exists only because the ways of saying a clear no have already been used totally . It certainly causes an absolute irritation when the case of Bosnia and the delayed response is mentioned as if ...

Shouldn't this be in Civil...Civuli...Syfi... hold on, I check the name: Civilium?

ı wouldn't have the slightest idea ; offtopic covered so many things ı guess that's why it is seemed quite unmanageable
hence the changes .

Well... I know I'm confused.. there are more threads in Taberna that I expected in Civilium...

ah well, it will be back to normal tomorrow :p

many political processes gain their internal dynamics and keep going when foreign masters slow down for the time being . Have been always famous for straying from the topic , even when am the thread-starter myself . Take the case of Syria , where there is yet to be another ceasefire both sides are so sure to break that it doesn't need much attention and the situation in Turkey prepared over half a century for an eventuality of opportunistic intervention rolls on its own ...

Spoiler :

now there is this bunch of people who have enabled the ruling party to top and they have fallen apart in recent times as Uncle Sam does not give a green light for success . They and the goverment were quietly squabbling behind the scenes , both sides are now getting vocal . To prevent more damaging fissures they had once again decided to ally themselves against the military , to maintain the facade if nothing else . Since the goverment generals are now "necessary for Uncle Sam to push us into Syria" , no more coup plotters are available to hunt down , hence the trial of the two remaining 4 star generals of the September 1980 coup . Both are over 90 and shaky old men . One reported sick , other reported a broken shoulder , both are in military hospitals .

and there is this guy who oozes class , soft spoken , courteous and knowledgeable , he was a leader of the militant right , he was on TV and reminded of the hysteria that overtook the country in the late 1970s when 20 people could be killed per day in political fighting . Will not exactly oppose his claim that out of 5000 people killed 3 thousands were Rightist and the remaining 2 thousands were Leftists . Was 9 the year the coup took place , then not being familiar with the context but daily listening to the TV reports accusing Anarchists wantonly killing people , ı would wait in horror for my father , a politically neutral construction worker , to come home in winter nights when it darkened so early and packs were out on the streets hunting for victims , innocents to kill . The only thing the coup did to me was the curfew , a policeman turned me around on my way to newspaper kiosk , probably there was no children's weekly to buy anyhow and it happened only once . Said the guy was reasonable this paragraph , yes ? Yeah , he warned the viewers to remember the jungle this country was back in the day and not to be too much "democratic" as the phrase gets to be understood these days . Not to let this trial go deep and try those who carried out the orders imposed by the coup leaders . My interpretion as his own words got a beaming smile from the TV host , who looks too young . Would doubt he was around in 1980 in a form to remember it now .

he -the former politician- would know the type of men they were sending out to streets to battle , right ? One guy widely known to be responsible for a massacre was in court on the second day of the trial accusing it was military that was totally guilty since all actions ended immediately on September 12 and all the terror was guided by the State to make the coup . Getting a retort from Leftists similarly in court to get revenge from the coup , that really abused Right and the Left , in quite equal proportions . Wonder if the Leftist who shouted murderer at the Rightist murderer had killed as many . There is no shame left in people , those who were in the forefront of terror , who organised and conducted it for their own dictatorial designs are now claiming they are democratic peaceloving whatevers . This tranquality , immediately in effect after the coup was explained by the former Right leader in a seemingly reasonable way . The Right had feared the Left would take over the country through the cracks of the democratic system and the Army wouldn't let it happen , so there was no reason to fight anymore while the Left had always seen the Armed Forces as an extension of American imperialism but their attempts at armed resistance were quickly crushed , a nearly a million strong army was not what the Leftists had been used to . So this sudden reversal wasn't the guilt of the State in its entirity .

what he pleasantly omits is that their Fuehrer hid in some bunker for quite a while and they kept their thugs off the streets as there were no guarantees that this would be an American coup , or rather could stay as one . A new generation has arrived in Turkey that attempts to forget that Jimmy Carter was in some theater when a pleased CIA agent rushed him to declare that it was "their" boys who made the putch .

probably because the lack of signal form Uncle Sam (for their further , now total dominance) encourage the opponents of the new generation to find heart and oppose them . One had the temerity to mention the Kevin Spacey in the Usual Suspects , with the line on devil's greatest success was convincing people that it didn't exist . It immediately became a shouting match . The bunch of people claim they are just concerned citizens without designs on the future of the country , strikes a raw nerve when something they use a lot is used against them .

so who is or was America's boy and who not ? Nothing in isolation and when the West first decided to push us South the fear of the Commies was enough . It didn't fully suit the Aramco streak in Washington who dreamed of controlling the whole lotta oil , Islamism - to be hijacked by the Gulf in due course - was pushed by the means of the Turkish State and Syria / Iraq were edged on by Turkish economic development , the centerpiece of it being the dams on Euphrates / Tigris as they are in English . Which of course were generally declared to be solely built so that we could cut the rivers on demand , to get them Arabs waterless . People like grand schemes where things suddenly fall in place in perfect harmony . Which would have been realised in 1974 had we been able to be defeated by the Greeks . Then we would be out of NATO in a rage , ready to be in a spat with the Arabs , the nearest secular ones who thought we were proxy Zionists anyways . It unnerved Iraqis , especially , that we could still bite . So when the grandly scheming and colloborating Iraqis came up with Saddam who thought Americans bended to oil irregardless of who owned it and he could get away with carving an empire , the first action being punishing the seperatist Kurds based here , under American supervision and Turkish idiotic following , it was a damn serious question whether we would fall like a house of cards when the fury hit us . And there was Iran , a threat to Gulf in aspirations of grandeur . And could always take Iraq in the flank . So immediately after America kinda proved to be some kind of a kitty in April 1975 , machinations got a freepass . In the following years while Americans were picking up the goverment generals by the Pavlovian reflexes of the military arms embargo when our planes had no wheels left , yes the rubbery circular stuff that also works in cars and trucks , a civil war was being built up in country , while the Shah lived on heroin or whatever oblivious to the Mullahs . Who won only because the Iranian Army was encouraged that it would soon pass , in a Turkish type semi-militarist dictatorship with elections they would do much better . Jimmy Carter stopped them from firing on the demonstators in a critical juncture , neverminding 2000 people had been killed up to then... The reward for the Iranian Airforce , the one for Humeyni from the immediate start , was to be the execution squads . For devout loyalty to the Shah .

so you think you are smart ?

something that pops up regularly these days is that the coup was delayed 2 years . Supposedly because the Turkish population had not been despaired enough to accept it . Yeah , right whatever . ı hear Iranians can be real slow . Only after they got themselves into their serious mess and we were "distracted" by the daily routine of 20 killed in political struggle and another 20 in road accidents , Saddam could strike Iran so that he wouldn't be taken in the flank and he had enough courage to do it only when a week passed after the coup in Turkey and the Americana appeared to stay . No risk of being taken on the front , if you know what ı mean . One thing ı should say about Saddam , the Kuwaitis were really stealing Iraqi oil ... April Glassby , was that the name of the then Ambrassador ?

stopping some mechanism for the day and "Gee, we are not after you." is no solution . Unlike the norm , people do not necessarily forget . We were supposed to wear the Arabs down , ı won't easily get why they had be strengthened in the first place . Can it be they were led to believe they were allowed to wear us down ? Especially when the button for that some mechanism is still there , to restart tomorrow .

world would be a much safer place if grand schemes were banned , eh ?

now that ı tend to finish with some punchline this some other coincidence of aviation matters has to be touched upon . It seems the F-16 has reached 4500 deliveries , and some Turkish commentator based in the US , was on the news , talking about General Dynamics' jet . How we produced some blah, blah . GD Forth Worth is down , for what is it now , 20 years ? It is Lockmart and ı don't ever remember the removal of the tag "Death to F-35 , Death to Footpad" . 197 millions per copy ? ı thought it was an exaggeration when ı first saw 91-93 to 97 mentioned in 2001.

won't stop people talking of the F-16 and "more planes are expected" . Come and take it .

How come when you use "I" in reference to yourself, it has no dot above it?

It's a Turkish font. My question for R16 would be, why do you insist on calling her Mrs. Rodham?

My prediction for in case Assad falls: Iran and Israel will seek reapproachment.

the name is always r16 with minor r , using an I would have made me more important than ı have ever been - those who know me will remember ı carry a lot of baggage - , adressing -if that can be the word- the US secretary of State is gross even for a nut of my caliber and Fundemantalist Islam , by full cooperation of the West , is an unsatiable beast . In the past year , when Assad refused to fall , they have gone into Belucistan demanding human rights and all and the whole coup business in Mali seems to be a cover for acceptance of people who owe their existance to likes of France so than Harkis , was that the term , can appear on Al Jazeera , opposing all republics .

yeah , a typical day here .

oh yeah , peace breaks out in Syria and it stinks for those who were pushing for conquest ... Meanwhile , it is naturally no surprise that there has been a further wave of arrests in Turkey in the name of democracy , this time those responsible for the "coup" of February 28 . The revolution has started to eat its fathers .

americans in the non-specialist fields might be familiar the highest ranking one . He was the only foreigner ever to command American troops in some UN operation . Somalia's later periods , ı guess the Blackhawk Down era . This was a time they were trying to interest us away from getting into a proper thing with the Serbians in Bosnia , and it just happened , his command thing . Otherwise , our popularity for UN / Peacekeeping operations stems from the American desire to show the brown people in their new areas of interest that it is OK for Muslims to be under American control , they won't be struck down by lightning or anything ; if they play the game by American rules they might someday get as much as tablescraps as we do .

not that he was that popular nor there was any reason for him to be liked ; it was noticed America was pushing him to the top , assignments and promotions were arranged to keep him out and that was it . Press finds it even easier now to dabble , the guy once wanted to be the president as he was bored with retirement and that was the sole reason he gave in the single TV discussion he was in , in his really short campaign . Now he is number one on every TV newsbroadcast , above all the rest of 31 arrests .

the calendar says today is the anniversary of the March 31st Incident of 1909 , where Right opposing the Ittihad ve Terakki rose , though ı doubt it would deserve a thread in the WH section .

anyhow , the Justice Minister announced the thing in a press conference with the Foreign Minister . If you ever say "What" it is so obvious , democracy getting stronger in Turkey makes us more acceptable to foreigners , improves our external image . Maybe one day the FM will get to conquer places , he and the goverment generals with no aides ; as trials show Turkey reaching maturity .

threadwise , Barack Obama has confessed he is a Trekkie . Well , there is democracy in the world , people are allowed to be fan of anything they like , though it doesn't mean that there will be fans of them for this particular reason . Change , what change ?

now ı am Turkish myself and got into various troubles unrelated to CF Forums , my ramblings on Turkish policy involve only me . My style involves various unrelated titbids and are not particularly important . ı am just lucky , if it connects to real life .
