Dudes,

I have been cruising all the civIII forums to try and keep up with the news about the game, tips etc and to my bewilderment I never see any of the "old school" members posting there.

This leaves me a touch sad because I don't get a lot of time on the site and I need to find out all the latest gossip on the games but I miss the banter that we all used to have on there.

I was just wondering where you are all posting these days, is there some forum I am missing  All the predictions about the site being swamped after the release were all true weren't they? Also wondering if people were avoiding those forums because of the sheer inability to keep up with them without spending 24hrs a day at the P.C.

So how the devil are you all? Hope you are all keeping well and hope to be speaking to you all a bit more in the future.

Yours Sincerely

MH:p

Well ,i'm no real member of the old school ,but:

I concur on that ,i almost never reply or post anything in there anymore :(

Hey Mongol, long time no see. ;)

I only see most of the old timers on Messenger these days, some still post a bit, but not much. :(

Me 'n Lefty are always cruising around the Civ 3 forums...but we aren't doing much friendsly banter. Try looking for something along the lines of ...

You mouthy little pr!cks better watch it! Big Bad Mod is onto you!

...and you'll probably find me ;)

I try to stay away from the Civ3 forums because the threads are mostly, not always, "moaning and complaining", "moaning and complaining about moaning and complaining" etc.
Most of my time on here is spent moderating and replying to the good conversation I find.

In the beginning posting was fun in the general civ3 forum, because everybody had its own ideas about the game and thoughts that could be implanted into the game. Now its just about the game and how bad it is. I think it rules and I prefer to play it instead of writing about it. Cause it is useless; They probably have it too.

Most of the time I am posting and reading in the off-topic forum. It is much nicer and more fun.

Off-topic forum rules:goodjob:

What about the civIII strategy and tips section, surely there can't be too much moaning and whining in there? Do all of you own the game or not? I have being looking through the forums trying to get your opinions on the game but I just see a bunch of kids saying "Sid should die" or something to that effect.

AndyCapp, cricket is so passe mate (although we will win the series). I wanna talk about Rugby and the fact the pommie swines have done you over in both codes in fact I make it three out of three for England in the last three matches. So tell me Andy what's it like not being the best in the world anymore?

Reason why you won't find me in the Civ3 forums is simple: I have not got the game yet, and don't look like getting it soon. Not sure even when it is being released in Australia.
As for Civ2, don't feel the need to expound upon it so much, and there are substantially less people in that section these days.
Thus, as an old timer of sorts, I find I can only climb the stairs as far as the Off Topic forum, with occasional delvings into History, Humour and Feedback.

BTW, my dear Mongol, what is this "rugby" you mentioned? Never really heard of it in the southern states...Is it some form of polo:p
England are collapsing again in the cricket as we speak; some things never change.:D

"Tis the winter of our discontent!"

Since the release of CIV3 the moaning has went large!

(most of it unfounded and by rookies, I might add)

Aaagghhh, everything is so boring and depressing...perhaps its because the holiday season is upon us, and this is the worst time of the year for me. This year, it is especially horrid, as I know it will be for many, and I've found myself deriving no pleasure from the things I do. I play a little Civ3 now and then, but I've given up posting in the Civ3 forums because I'd rather play than write. The OT forums are mostly about politics, and right now, that is an extremely depressing subject for me. Thank goodness for the Game of Democracy forum! I shall reside there, and hopefully, won't make too much of a fool of myself.

Ah Dr Darkshade I presume.

You shouldn't be surprised that civIII hasn't been released for you yet. Barbarian backwaters such as yours aren't high on the priority list for games companies ;)

You profess to not know of this term "rugby" just like the 15 (or 13) men who turned up to play England the other week.

At last some English sport for me to brag about, alas I better brag quickly as I'm sure it won't last long.

Well, I don't have civ 3 yet, don't have plans of getting it any time soon, and can't stand the repitition and overlap in the civ3 forum as far as topics go. Plus, it isn't easy to discuss a game you know nothing about;)

I check the civ2 boards still, but theres nothing new going on. All of my mp games are organized at poly.

Once civ3 comes out with an mp version, I will buy it and become an active member of on topic again. Until then, I'm going to be a cellar dweller for the most part.

Mongol, as the evil Darkshade said we don't get to excited about that bum sniffing game in the southern states. It's summer here - barbecues on beautiful balmy evenings (still waiting for those), and a Test Series against the South Africans to determine who is the best in the world - bee-udiful!

Simon, Civ3 has been on sale in Melbourne for some time - they do say Adelaide is, errr.... 10 years behind! :D If you want to purchase Civ3 let me know. I am waiting for the mp version of Civ3 and for the bugs to be fixed before I buy.

My interest in the On-topic is limited to the fixing of bugs in Civ3 and play strategies, but otherwise no real interest - except Civ2 Scenarios. Which is why I inhabit OT, History and Democracy Game forums.

Dreadhead7, cheer-up! I think you will make an excellent Science Minister and why is the holiday season "the worst time of year"? Anyway hope things get better for you!

I almost forgot, Mongol - all your hordes are belong to us! :D

April of 2001 may get me there. ;)... but I am in the Civ3 forums more so than anywhere else - no whining from this boy though, oldschool don't whine, oldschool just get down to business. :king:

AndyC, thanks for the cheer! Actually, the holidays have always been terrible for me, as I have had lots of terrible and whacked out stuff happen to me during these times, and the anniversary of these events have always depressed me. Actually, being around here helps me forget that stuff, thank goodness, and I know I'll be fine once January 2nd rolls around.:)
