I apologise for this but I've searched all over this website to try to find out what the One City Challenge is that I see people mentioning and I can't find anything about how to do it? (I'm a noob to CFC if you didn't guess)! Can somebody either help me out or direct me to a previous thread about it?

One City Challenge started at Apolyton (have you already had a look at Apolyton's Great Library ?).
There is an OCC guide called the 'paulicy', because it was written by Paul ;) (one of the best OCC players, who used to organize fortnightly comparison games).
There is a link to that guide in Apolyton's GL. Unfortunately the link seems to be broken.
The best you can do is ask ElephantU or Tim the Enchanter who post here and are OCC specialists. I bet both of them have the paulicy somewhere and could help you.

Thanks, Sethos - home.nl changed their account structure, but most of the link lists (like the GL) have not updated. I just fixed the one in General Discussions/Link Index.

Massive thanks for that Sethos, I've been playing Civ 2 since about 1997 and I've learnt more about it in the last 5 days using this website than I have in the last 5 years. Playing the OCC has totally transformed my outlook on playing Civ 2. The other thing I love about the OCC is that it is so quick to play a game. My normal game is to have about 150 cities on a huge map and to conquer all the other Civs apart from one city and then transform the landscape to create huge cities until 2009 to launch a fully built spaceship. You get loads of points this way but it takes about a week to play a game which I don't really have time to do.
