Please note that a "beta test" is not "playing the game". You "test the game" and if you don't, you get kicked out pretty quickly.

Yes testing means long hours playing a game, pressing prt scn and taking lots of notes to make long and detailed report so the dev's can fix the stuff. So for the reward of helping develop the game you get hours of your free time dedicated to stuff that is not very exciting and offen tendious and monotonous. In the end totally worth it, but it is not for everyone. And it is certainly not a free ticket to playing the game early.

I purchased Civ IV shortly after release largely on the strength of Sulla's walkthroughs. I would love to have a similar resource for Civ V.
