Hey, y'all! This is my first OSG thread, so bear with me.

We will be playing regent China. This game is for Conquests only, no Vanilla or PTW,sorry....
This is for the regular Conquests, with no patches.

Scenario: None,just normal game
Map Size: Standard
Barbarians:Sedentary
Land:Continents
Ocean:60%
Terrain:Normal/Temperate/5 billion
Playing the Chinese
All Victories but Wonder
Regent Difficulty

Opponents:
Rome
Germany
Japan
Aztecs
Mongols
Scandinavia
Zululand
(We're all militaristic)

My time line:

Decent starting location, grassland, forest, riverside.
But i see some cattle to the right, so I sent the settler over there.
4000BC: sent settler one square to the west, told worker to irrigate
3950BC:Built capital at Beijing, I see some more cattle in the fog of war, so I start an Archer to go explore.
3900BC-started BW for tech, set tech rate to 80%
3850BC-worked finished irrigate, started road there.
3800BC-nothing
3750BC-worker finished road, sent to a forest square with some silks.
3700BC-Beijing built archers, started settler, worker started clearing forest
3650BC-archer explores, finds two cattle(next city site)
3600BC-Beijing finished settler, told worker to build road on silks
3550BC- Sent settler
3500BC-silks made Beijing happy,culture expanded
3450BC-worked started mine on silks
3400BC-started pottery, built Shanghai, started worker there.Another worker in BJ,started spearman, palace expanded for me
3350BC-new worker started road towards SH
3300BC-zzz
3250BC-Worker finished mine, sent to grassland spot.
3200BC-SH done worker, start settler. Worker started irrigating
3150BC-Started Cere.Bur. and road to Shanghai will be done soon.
3100BC-BJ built spearman, start another settler. Sent a worker to a forest square.
3050BC-starting clearing 2 forests, Shanghai connected to BJ

End of my turns. You are left with Beijing, size 2, settler in 4.
. Shanghai, size one, settler coming. Archer to explore with, 3 workers as well.
So far we are 7th overall, tied for third, actually, 4 points from first place at 59 pts.
Good luck!!:goodjob: file:

You may want to tell what level this is on.

Not a sign- up or anything, just a sidenote. :)

Seems to be conquest, because i can't load it in PTW. Although i would prefer a king or emperor game, for a first SG I'am interested ;). Which version is the game? 1.15 beta?
The starting location looks really awesome.

Thanks for your corrections. Like I said, this is my first attempt...
I'll be back tonight to see what's going on.

O.k. done my 10 turns

Heres the log:

Prince Yoshi74 takes over the burden of reign and looks over his land:

Some notes on the situation:

1. Its useless to irrigate grassland for the time we are in despotism. Exeption: grassland with bonus.
2. First improve the best tiles, because these will be used from the beginning and improvent really nets

some good
3. For the archer there could be two warriors walking the land. 4 eyes see more than 2, and the 2 attack

is not so importent

Pre-turn action:

Switch production at Shanghei and Beijing to granary for faster grow in the future. Shanghai should

become a great settler farm (4 turn, not to experienced in this till now) and beijing shows also

promise.

Woke the lazy spearmen at beijing. No immidiate threat so sent him on exploration on the hill SE.

Adjust tech slider to 40 %. Ceremonial burial still in 2 turns, but +6 gold.

Hit space

1 - 3000BC

just notice this game seems have accalarated production. Never played this one, but hey, can always

learn :)

archer nw

2 - 2950BC

we researched CB :) i switched to mysticsm, tech 90%, +1 gold, 4 turns left. Going beeline for monarchy

i will see in few turns...
Spearman s - Looks like coastline south of us
worker moves on beihing cow to irrigate.

:whipped: granary at beijing. Otherwise without MP the could be trouble before the spearmen returns from

exploration. Hopefully the forester arn't finish next turn. But its only my second turn, so this should

be o.k.
When having the :whipped: at hand, the granary in shanghai is hurried to

3 - 2900BC

sic. industrial workers are fast... chopping for nothing. Well, not so much trouble at accelerated prod,

still granaries finished in both cities.
Set both on settler.
Archer sw to look for the purple borders,
Spearmen sw - jep definitly coastline to the south
irrigating beijing cow.

road cow se of shanghai

fire the taxman in shanghei, hire a scientist.
with scandinavia near i decide for iron working as next tech

contact with japan, polite towards us, no techs to trade, two cities (soon three)
shanghai: settler->warrior

And here a pic:

OSG_RC2590.jpg

We have a settler ready to settle at the read spot. I think thats a good position. The blue spots are position i would settle in the future when continuing the game.
To the southwest is Japan, 3 cities, polite toward us.
To the northwest is Scandinavia, 2 cities, also polite
We get new settlers in 2 and 4(3) turns.

Just took a look (after upload) at the situation. Vikings have writing. They will trade it for CB and Horse. I leave this trade for the next player, but recommend it.
Japan is 4 techs behind us and i think they did'nt met the vikings till now.

Don't know much about the west. Maybe good land to settle, maybe other civs. The water south i identified as coast can also be a bigger lake. Further exploration required.
We have horses and in 3 turns we know where iron will be. Things look very well.

Here is the SAVE

Good luck for the next one! :)

[edit] : corrected the whip smilies, no they can be seen :/

Take over the reains...

Hmmmm... We are taking a very curios research path. In C3C I typically make a beeline for Philosophy and take the free tech. I will try for that but seeing Writing is already known dunno whether we will make it.

2550 BC: Settle Nanking -> Worker. Due in 5. Increase lux by 2. Darn did we whip something in Shanghai? If we did then why isn't it garrisoned with troops to control happiness.

2510 BC:

2470 BC: Learn IW. Trade IW and MYst to Vikings for Writing. Which is another reason to beeline for Writing. The new AI values Writing very highly. Shanghai Settler -> Warrior.

2430 BC: Form Tsingtao.

2390BC: Beijin Settler -> Warrior. Sorry didn't MM beijing properly. Its down to size 1. Anyway we need that warrior to scout east. Found XiinJian.

2350 BC:

2310 BC:

2270 BC: Get Philosophy. Take Litereature as the free tech. Will let us research everything faster. Since this is regent we want to leave everyone way behind and attack with cavalry when they have nothing but muskets at the most and get the game over with by then. :hammer: (just pontificating :) ) Start Mathematics.

2230 BC:

2190 BC: Settler moves in to Grab incense. Warrior explores to our east.

Keep exploring to our east. We need to meet more people to trade techs. Expansion should proceed to our east now. I do not see any iron that we can grab nearby. Maybe we will find some. I have switched Shanghai to library because we do not need two settler factories anymore. After Beijing finishes the Library it
can churn out settlers.

There are two BGs near our capital that has been irrigated. I am mining one of them now. Mine the other when this one is finished.

There is a settler on AutoGo going to our northeast to a position by the river.

If you want it to go somewhere esle then remove it from AutoGo.

Good Luck.

The save.

20 turns is alright, forgot to mention that. BTW, you guys have more depth at this than me. I tend to run forward blindfolded, so its interesting to see some actual strategy at work!! Great work, and thanks for responding and playing my game.

@betazed

Yes, i whipped the granarys in both towns at the start of my turns as written in the log ;) thats why i hired sometimes a scientist.
For the tech path: had not much luck on my latest higher diff games in getting philosophy first. The monarchy path is sometimes less crowded and allowed me nice tech trading. Switching IW in the line was to get a chance to find some iron. For regent the go for philosophie is something i didn't think of :/

Its good we found some incense at the east after loosing the norther deposit to the vikings (at least temporarly).

@Conquerer '91
I think we should keep it at ten turns. I asked before i recognized the game has accelarated production. 20 turns may lure some player into too fast playing. And the learn effect comes from the slow playing and thinking about every turn and action.

@yoshi: I am successfull in snagging philosophy even in Emperor games if I have a decent start. Earlier in PTW you would never think of researching at emperor level. You would just tech trade. But I like this better. This gives you incentive to reseach at all levels.

I had some sweet experiences this way. Researched Philosophy first. I got a Scientific Leader; taken the Literature as a free tech and rushed TGL. Lo and behold the game now became twice as easy. :)

Sounds good. I'am really new to emporer (just the current GOTM, does quite well, just dosn't dare to play the last days ;) ).
Never too late to learn something :)

So you're saying that 20 turns would give too much progress to one player... that makes sense. Ok, I will take 10 turns now. Be back tonight with the results

sorry, error with game. My play is "unplayed".

Not exactly with the save file itself, but I moved the Civ3 file and now Conquests won't even start up.... I'll come back when I've fixed everything up. But if I can't by tommorow night, I'll reply here and start a PTW game, because I have no problem with that.

OK, got it all figured out with the system. I'll start playing now and post the results tomorrow no later than 8:00pm.

Allright, I'm back. Here are the results:

Pre-turn- Changed science to 80%
Scandinavia forced us to remove our forces.

1: 2150BC- Built Hangchow, started worker there.
Changed Chengdu's production to worker because->
Beijing done library, started the Pyramids

2:2110BC- Learned Math, started Construction
Chengdu finished worker, started warrior

3:2070BC- I plan to build road connecting Chengdu to Beijing

4:2030BC- Built Tientsin downriver from Beijing, started worker there
Switched Canton's production to worker, since Beijing is building Pyramids.

5:1990BC- gave Beijing and Shanghai entertainment for civil disorder->will build Oracle in Shanghai when they finish Library
worker completed in Hangchow, started settler

6:1950BC- Shanghai and Beijing back to normal

7:1910BC- Shanghai finished Library, starting Oracle
Chengdu done warrior, started settler

8:1870BC- Nanking connected
Canton finished Curragh, started settler
Tsingtao finished Library, wealth now

9:1830BC-nothing to report

10:1790BC-nothing to report

Well, we have three settlers on the way, as well as the Pyramids and Oracle coming
Currently there are 63 gold in the treaury; we are gaining 0.
Construction will be done next turn

We are leading by 23 pts.
53 pts above Scandinavia
48 pts above Japan
23pts above Aztecs.

Good Luck:goodjob:
