Has anyone used this product? Here is the site if you are unfamiliar. It's opensource freeware.;)

In particular I would like to know how well it interfaces with Microsoft files. I have used StarOffice 5, which has the same roots, and it will not make a fully Word compatible .doc file. On the other hand it does a fair job producing Excel style speadsheets.

For "standard" .doc or .xls files, it seems OK (standard meaning no special formulas, macros, etc...)
I can tell you that for this kind of particuliarities in the files (and even if you add the date in the footer in some cases), it's not fully compatible.

The only kind of problem I've had with OpenOffice is some formatting doesn't translate to well. As far as normal (i.e. - at home non business) use, it works fine for me. And I saved 200 bucks over office. . . .
