OPERATION II:Defending The Motherland

Citizen's and Soldier's,

OUr plan worked as planned and we are procedding acorrding to plan. The Barbarian's split up most going towards our Hoplites and killing three of them, but some going at Heidelburg. The German's as Predicted sent MASSIVE re-inforcments to the area and now we have a German Army to our South with an un-favorable situation on our hands, Olympus is un-defended, and Priapos is rather weak.

Here's how I propose we deal with this little threat. Civatonia is due to make a Swordsman in a single turn. I'd like to have this Swordsman wait near Civatonia until a German Archer gets out into the open, then he'll move in and take the Archer out. The main idea is an offensive defense, to make sure they don't pillage much and MAKE them attack us. Of course Olympus is COMPLTLEY undefnded so after the Hoplite It would be good for Civatonia to produce a quick Hoplite before churning out more Swordsman to hunt down the German Archers.

Now some people may go against this and say that Hoplites are needed instead of Swordsman, there ar emore reasons for picking Swordsman as my preferred weapon, mainly as soon as the German Archers are gone the remaining Swordsman can then systematically assault and raze all of the Southern German cities in a March of Death along the far Eastern Coast razing everything in their path, this is somehting Hoplites CANNOT do.

And that's my analysis and plan for now, comment and critique!

I think we should build swords and hoplites. Cities like Styx and the Augean Stables, ones that aren't at risk from the Germans, should build hoplites, to reinforce Priapos, Olympus, and Civatonia. Those remaining three cities should build swords to attack Germany. The only problem is our unit support cost might but us in the red due to this war, yet this is neccesary. We should also, position units outside of Berlin, for a quick and decisive strike. This will prevent reinforcements from being built before blood is spilled and prevents Germany to pick of our caravan of troops with archers.

With both Olympus and Styx unprotected, our first objective must be to provide those two cities with some defense.

Olympus is currently building Barracks. Once that's complete, perhaps we could persuade Governor CivGeneral to train two units of Hoplites - one for Olympus and the second for Styx. This would take a total of 6 turn - 2 for the Barracks, 2 for each Hoplite.

This would be in addition to the Swordsmen moving to cover any offense.

I would further suggest that the first hoplite trained move to Styx. It is close to the border with France, and I am concerned with Germany bringing the French into war with us.

We don't want our Hoplites attacked as well, but I'm fine with Olympus producing Hoplite's for a static defense, but we'll get most of our kills from the Swordsman.

And your thoughts on France, I left 2 Swordsman up North to protect us partly form the French or at least stall them should a large invasion cross our border, using your whole Offensive power is foolish and therefore I didn't do it and protected our Northern Border as best I could without giving up the assuridty of Capturing Berlin. But i do agree that we'll need more troops up North to stop the French.

But we have to deal with the German Archers first.

Ranger99, glad to know you are the new minister of defense! Well, to you all: I'm back to the DG as a simple citizen of Fanatikos. Please, don't PM me about my permban and other stuff. I would like to say that I am sorry, and that I will be a honest citizen and soldier of the DG, and will work hard for Fanatikos, as I did for Olympus.

First, we should build more hoplites. About my current information, Olympus and Styx are undefended. As soon as we can make peace with Germany, let's continue building our defense but keeping our swordsmen for a future war. But we should stop producing them until we have a sizeable force of hoplites.

Our defense definitley need bolstering that is a given. With the War with Germany still going on our swords are needed now. With the biggest German threat that we see is a couple of archers, we don't need to go crazy on hoplites, one and then more swords is sufficient for the time being.
