Orbis Soundtrack XML Merge

I had a little extra time this morning (going on vacation tomorrow) and merged Orbis's extended soundtrack into Rife.

I thought there was probably some interest in this from other Orbis players, so I zipped the changed XML files and have attached them here. Obviously, these are only XMLs, so if you want to use the soundtrack, you will have to drag the MP3s out of Orbis and into the correct Rife folders. I maintained Rife's folder structure so as not to mess anything up.

To use:

1. Extract the zip file to a placeholder folder (e.g. on your desktop).

2. Copy files AudioDefines.XML and Audio2DScripts.XML into ...\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise from Erebus\Assets\XML\Audio. Replace the existing files.

3. Copy file CIV4EraInfos.XML into ....Rise from Erebus\Assets\XML\Gameinfo. Replace the existing file.

4. Copy the MP3s from Orbis's music folders ...Orbis\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack into their appropriate folders in ...Rise from Erebus\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack. The XML files only change the music from the Religious Eras (that is, Emperyon, Order, etc), so you only need to copy those files. The folder names are slightly different, but this doesn't matter. ONLY copy the files from folder to folder. DO NOT copy the entire folder. The music files need to be in the correct folder in Rife to work. For example, you will be copying the entire contents of the "Order" folder from Orbis to the "Orde" folder in Rife. The folder in Rife remains "Orde." Note that "Esus" in Orbis is "Coun" in Rife. There is presently no Era for The White Hand in Rife, so I did not port that music. I also did not port the default era's music, because I wasn't ready to completely get rid of the standard FFH music.

5. Start a game and adopt a religion. Enjoy the ported music.

Final Note: I've tested this a bit, and it works fine. I remember some typos in Orbis's XML, however, so I might update this and correct them another time once I find which tracks have typos.

PS (yes, I have both a final note and a post script): Hopefully there is an official merge of the orbis soundtrack in an upcoming version....;)

Wow, awesome :goodjob:

What exactly is within the new music pack of Orbis? New religion music? What about new non-religion music? Some agnostic civs might want some personal era (D'tesh, Grigori, etc.) so that they get some interesting music as well :)

And we could still divide the game into Early music, Mid music, etc.

Thanks! We oughta steal some more music from Heroes of Might and Magic. The music for the Elves in Heroes five would be perfect for the Ljosalfar.

Awesome. :goodjob:

I'll work on adding a White Hand era... It's just so annoying to add them.

Keep in mind, with each one we need new eras. Which means... at least 16 lines of xml for every single leader in the game, and messing with the CityLSystem and PlotLSystem files.

That said, we could give the Airandamar music (or at least music by that artist, like the main theme) to the D'tesh.... :mischief:

One of the reasons I don't like playing agnostic civs is that I get so tired of the track list during a long game. A second era for the agnostics is probably a good idea, but again, probably a bit of work.

As others have noted, the XML changes here only affect the religious era change.

Just a couple of question...
Is Orbis music still scheduled for a merge, later on? I'm quite sure I've seen it written somewhere, also something about Rife getting his own media pack, am I wrong?

Ps: about the eras, I know they are annoying... But please, we need them...
Immersion is such an important aspect of FFH. I know I sound selfish. Forgive me. :p

Thank you!

Orbis has different music for different eras. So when the Civilpedia says that researching a tech advances you to the Classical era, it also advances you to the Classical music.

This alone is huge for anyone playing any Agnostic civ.

Yes, it is planned.

this sounds promising. I tend to play DTesh and/or Scions and maybe it's the civ, but it seems like I always hear the same song which I've dubbed, "Dingleberry Downers"... ;) cuz that's what one of the lines sounds like. It's the one that's kinda sparse with a male's low voice singing things like, "i hope and i pray that there may come a day..." so very tired of that one. and as those civs dont have religions, i'm stuck with it. i don't think I would have minded the soundtrack at all if there were no vocals in it, but oh well.

I have a question: Will the media pack include wonder vids? or are they already there? (wondering if theres something wrong with my game)

Edit:Nvm, all my Q's seem to be answered for me (I look, I swear) after I ask them
