Orthanc's Creation Thread

I think I get what you're saying, what really happened here is that, since the middle, blue and goldish part of the hull sticks out so far, the perspective of the first preview didn't allow you to see that the majority of the rest of the hull is the same texture.

Looking better..:) it was the angle...

Triremes often had sail designs, usually each greek-city state had its own I believe. Could you by any chance stick a cool design on the sail?

Alright, sorry for the delay but I've got a new computer now, WHICH WORKS, so a new age of Orthanc-ing is in order.

Anywho, I put a spunky helmet design on the sails, how's it look? I'm thinking if this design works I'll head on to animating this thing.

OH MY GOD! I'm Drowing in SALIVA! *Glug glug die*

Okay, now that that is done.... Keep up the good work.. Goldflash may need somethign in the near future...

That one is AWESOME! Now we have nearly a complete ancient set!

 ...of course 'nearly' begs a request for consideration - a merchant ship to match the beauty of your warship additions!

My personal thought was for something like this Roman merchant, but I recently ran across a neat ancients site for ship pictures that has a LOT of different ancient and medieval ideas - http://www.grinda.navy.ru:8101/sailship/ship/shipanote.htm

Yes, BUT there is a use for transport ships - especially if you restrict galleys, triremes, etc to transporting one foot unit only for example. Merchant ships carried the majority of the troops, horses, and equipment in ancient times - can you imagine elephants wandering around on a trireme!

Orthanc, those "eye like patches" on the helmet is confusing, I thought it looked like some sort of weird orc for a minute until I got the perspective. So I'd remove them...

Personally I could use a merchant galley, yes.

Well, those 'eye patches' are really just sorta decoration, here let me show you the design up front and let you judge if you still want it...

EDIT: Sorry it's kinda huge, I forgot just how big the image file was

I think Swoggy is wrong. Leave the lines. They add depth.
