I have updated to OS X 10.6.7 last weekend and since then I can't access my Steam account under OS X anymore. It asks me for a code which should have been sent to my email address. This code has never been sent. I read something in the Steam support forums that this is an issue with a BETA of Steam and safeguard. I was never asked whether I would agree to test BETA versions. First I get a BETA of Civ 5 and now even Steam is a BETA. What are these guys on ?

Anybody else facing this ? Has anbody opened an account for the Steam support and got an answer on this ? I begin to be really fed up with Civ 5 and Steam. It is a damn nuisance. This complete game and system is a no-go.

I received the same message saying they wanted me to authorise a "new computer". I then received an email containing a four character code that I was able to use to get in. This actually happened four times, with four different codes, before I was finally able to stay authenticated.

The emails came from Steam Support <support (at) steampowered.com>

Are you sure you haven't received an email? Have you checked in your Spam email folder? Does your ISP filter email for you?

Yes, I get the same message that I am using a new computer.

I am using "Mail" and I have checked the option that Spam should be marked, but should be kept in the normal Inbox. I do not have a Spambox in "Mail". At least there is none visible on the left side where the folders for the incoming- and sent mails are. There is also the waste folder, but no Spam-folder.

Also on my mobile I am getting my emails and also there I did not get any email from Steam. I cannot remember that I had the option to let my ISP filter Spam for me. I will check that.

No issues for me... Still happily plugging along. Having a go as Montezuma this go round.

This is part of the new two part authentication in Steam. You can disable this feature if you want...from what I understand.

I had one computer do this to me. I simply deleted Steam from my Application folder, told it 'no' when it asked if I wanted to delete the other Steam content, and then re-downloaded the Steam app. Works fine now, after getting the code from the email, and I didn't have to re-download anything, other than the Steam update itself.

If I understand the OP right, it's not even sending the code to his email, as it's never getting the signal that the 'other' computer is trying to log in. Mine simply wouldn't log in at all till I did the above, and it's fine now. It was not the 'master' computer in the new security scheme. The 'master' computer was fine the whole time.

I found the email from Steam Support after I logged into the email system of my ISP directly. There they were in the Spam folder. I usually do not log in there.

Steam is a piece of crap. :vomit:

But 10.6.7 offers its contents of problems also...

You're finally true my problem was from one of two mods for civ 5 i activated

Deleted those two mods and no problem anymore...

Still bad that Mac Civ 5 doesn't support officially mods...

I am surprised that the mods didn't work (assuming they work for Windows). Are you sure they are supposed to be compatible with the older version of Civ5 that we are running on the Mac? Also, do you know that those two mods are supposed to work together?

It was Barbarians! v4 from Mentos
Et What Would Gandhi Do v6

I deleted both, back to normalcy...
