just look at the source code - 'nuff said.

Spoiler :

you can't use modular mods, that IS a big problem in my humble opinion.
new version of Excel is but even more crap.

I don't use Vista, but I've used it before. Any OS system that asks me THREE TIMES if I really want to run a program AFTER I JUST CLICKED ON IT needs to be shot, if you ask me.

Plus, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter isn't compatible with it, and that's a crime against nature. :p

That code makes me roflmao, btw.

finally someone that appreciates a good laugh

btw, the silly "are you sure? REALLY sure? REALLY,REALLY SURE?" issue can be easily solved by deactivating those warnings. I'm not sure how though, a nerdy friend did that for me luckily.

It's called User Account Control, or something. In theory, it does make your computer more secure. In practice, it's an annoying piece of crap.

Bah, I just won that game on an eBay auction! Any way to work around the incompatibility issue? Play in XP mode?

I tried for about an hour to get it running with no luck. If you come up with anything let me know; my friend who has Vista will be glad to hear it. Me, I have XP, on which it runs fine. ^_^

OK, I'll check out the Serious Sam fora and maybe see if Croteam has anything to say. I've always loved those Serious Sam games. I wonder if there will be a Serious Sam 3 for Vista?

Yeah, I'm already missing my XP machine in many ways and dealing with this Vista has issues every day. :(

Haha..good one!
Thanks to this code my canceled 4 years of computer science finally pay off :D

I have had vista for 8 months and i must say i love it!!
it looks cool and i dont have any problems with it.
Civ, Diablo2, Oblivion, UT, Quake.. everything really runs without any problems!
Cannot understand, that all the world is complaining the whole time!

LINUX rulezzzz!!
(running Vista on notebook is half suicide)

I don't know, but anything what Gates introduce as great breakthrough, is already some time in linux (transparent windows, 3d window selecting, etc ...)

I agree. My mother got a new laptop with vista.
I tried to send her old files over the network to her new computer yesterday.
Guess what?
UAC blocked it. I wasn't even able to ping her old computer until I deactivated it.
And I'm pretty sure that UAC was responsible for the error i got yesterday when i tried to install the printer driver (I will retry right after i finish reading and posting here).

 Very amusing "code".

Seriously, while I like to slam Microsoft for doing things wrong, UAC is an example of them doing things right (with a poor implementation). The larger problem (other than not being able to confirm a series of violations once, instead of multiple times) is that Microsoft has been doing things wrong for so long that many software engineers have been doing things wrong as well... because it's easier.

This makes their software largely incompatible with UAC.

Yeah i agree that the idea of uac is good but it doesn't work right now.
Now that i deactivated it i could install the printer without problems (and that were vista drivers and not some multi-OS drivers).
The biggest problem I see with uac is that you just get some crash and not a message: "uac blocked this". I know enough to solve those problems but i am sure quite a lot of people had big troubles installing their drivers or whatever.

the silly thing is that vista is clearly an OS aimed at n00bs ( UAC basically protects 'em from themselves. that is, if it worked nice ) , that needs a pro to get rid of all the silly stuff that bugs people. once you get rid of the junk it's actually not a bad OS, although it needs a powerful pc indeed. another thing that really bugs me is that, as soon as Vista came out, EVERY SINGLE PC ON SALE got labelled the "built for Vista" , even if it had less than a gig of RAM and a crappy cpu and actually was slow as a freakin snail the very day you bought it. that's enraging, to say the least.

Croteam!! Go Croatia! :goodjob:

I got new laptop and it comes with vista. After disabling annoying UAC it's ... OK. I didn't expect it to fly or anything. I see no reason to complain. Everything else on Laptop is fine so I'm happy. 2% lower performance is not something I'd weep about.

Well, for now. I hope I don't start seeing serious issues like FfH not working :p

well, that was actually the case until yesterday. repeatable CTD afflicting just Vista has just been fixed in patch G - oh, glorious day! :D
