Apologies if anyone thinks this is another unnecessary 'Spearmen vs. Tanks thread' - its not meant to be so bear with me.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned in any of the threads about combat is the depleted impact of an attack if it occurs in the same turn as a unit movement. Remember in CivII, where you had a single MP unit (e.g. Swordsman) and you moved 2 squares along a road - if you attacked then, the program would remind you that you're only attacking at 1/3rd strength.
I know the program doesn't give you that warning like Civ2 but I would have expect the same deal to apply.
Does anyone know whether MP usage is still a factor in combat calculations? If so, has everyone forgotton what a difference that makes to your attacks?
When you combine terrain advantages, veteran status and movement penalties (if they do in fact exist) - is it any wonder that a Tank trundling up from a grassland and attacking a Veteran Spearman on a hill is likely to suffer an embarrassing defear now and again? Or have I missed the plot entirely?
