Everytime I select the Ottomans it crashes to desktop :( , I can select any other civilisation and it works fine.

This a known issue. You also stand a good chance of a CTD if you encounter them in a game as well. It sucks, I know. :(

Thanks for starting this thread. I just logged in because I'm having the same problem :(

Anyone know when the patch is due? :p

Seems I'm stuck at 1292AD until they release a patch :( How the hell they let a bug this big get released is a mystery

Any one know of a way to start a new game in which I'm assured to not get Ottoman's included?

I had a Geforce2 32MB MX400. I was able to start a game as the Ots but after saving it I was unable to load without CTD. I got a geforce 6200 256MB card for 40 bucks yesterday (circuit city has them for 29 and 39 bucks 128/256) and was able to load the game and continue. I am only at 980AD though.

I contacted Canadian Tech support and they were surprized how I was able to play the game at all. According to them the intel grafics card does not support the game but changing mehmet with sid worked. Thanks for the tip :)

I have the same problem. I think that it is the graphics on the Ottoman Empire. On the Civilopedia, the animation doesn't even show up and neither do the letters of their description. ::Sighs Dejectivly::

I have the same problem with Mehmed's leaderhead and assume that changing it to Sid in the XML will work. I've swapped leaderheads before for giggles and it worked fine.

I also am able to run on the Intel graphics card; my game tell me I'm below minimum specifications, but the only major problem I've had with either vanilla or Warlords is this one with Mehmed - might the lack of an adequate graphics card be connected, or is this just a general bug?

I think the Mehmed issue occurs on more computers, not just those with intel graphics. It seems however that some can display Mehmed flawlessly.

Note that you can disable the annoying message about min specification in the ini file (something like HideMinSpecWarning = 1).

I would forget contacting "Tech Support" even for laughs...I was also told that I wouldn't be able to get Vanilla to run on my system EVER by tech support, then came here and got the info I needed to get things up and running...
I haven't bought Warlords yet, I'm not going to until they patch it. And to be honest; the longer I wait for that patch, the more likely I am to just forget it and buy something that works.
While the community based work arounds are greatly appreciated I'm kind of reaching a point with Civ IV where I'm sick of being taken for granted as a customer.

Yes I agree! I have been trying to contact customer support and all I keep getting was a e-mail stating that I needed to send the DirectX Information. I sent that in and I have not heard a response. So I e-mailed again asking why I haven't recieved a response and I got a e-mail back saying,
"ear Sir/Madam

I don't even think that these e-mails are being sent to live human beings. And calling them is a joke also. They are all British and I can't understand them. They may be British Indians (not American Indians) after all...Who knows.

If you want to run Ottoman you might want to try using an actual video card. Your computer might have an AGP or PCI slot. But if it doesn't then I guess you'd have to wait for a patch.

Then why does the other Rulers show up. I have a real video card. LoL Do you think we have fake ones? This is a specific glitch.
