Out of Africa theory challenged

But there are several genera of apes, living and extinct. Arbitrarily excluding Homo (or just one species of it) doesn't make sense.

We are still not in the same genus as apes, so whats your point?

Apes are in several different genera is my point. So saying we are in different genera from apes is saying that one genus of apes is arbitrarily excluded.

Depends which ape you are talking about. Great apes all belong to one genus.

Or chimpanzees, who are closer to us than to gorillas?

Well duh, but i have this stereotype in my head whenever i think of a chimpanzee i think of them as monkeys even though they arent.

Although, that depends on the definition of genus right? And if we do that, we also have to combine all the genera "between" us and them, like Australopithecus and Paranthropus and whatever else I don't know how to spell correctly, and then Homo will have like a hundred species.
