I am pretty new to this game and was wondering if someone can help me with something. After I have made 5 or 6 cities and am growing fast, some citizens get unhappy because of "overcrowding" How do I fix that? Does clearing forests help for overcrowding?

Thanks

There's several ways to fix overcrowding:
1) Use slavery to reduce the population of the city on production (never "whip" less than 2 population away as this doesn't do much to reduce population)
2) Build happiness buildings (coliseums, theaters)
3) Acquire more happiness creating resources (gold, gems and silk)
4) Increase your culture slider if you have coliseums and theaters

Forests and such have nothing to do with crowding, it is simply due to the number of people in the city (the numbers on the city). You can prevent unhappiness by not growing your city beyond the happiness that can be sustained, but usually I prefer to just whip away happiness with slavery so I can get some production usage out of the population.

Thanks for the advice. Whipping is when you "rush" production at the expemce of one citizen when you have slavery goverment, right? I presume that when you get overcrowding, your city is at its limit and you may want to consider the "stop growth" if you dont have slavery, right?

Usually,yes.

"Overcrowding" is a natural feature: each population in a city creates one
unhappy face and if unhappy faces surpass happy ones there is some
unhappiness.

Best regards,

Overcrowding occurs when the city's population exceedes the amount of happy faces available. You need to either increase happiness or decrease the population.
