Palace Problems

I've been playing on Warlord (GOTY) and haven't been offered the chance to build my palace....anybody know why this is? I generally run entertainment at 10% during peace..does this have anything to do with it?

I'm not sure that's what he meant, Butz.

I think he means he wants to build additions to his palace. The game seems to determine that kind of randomly, although increased happiness and world power do seem to help.

Increase your cultural boundaries - settle some cities, build improvements.

If all else fails, click the "P" on the bottom right hand of the screen. Sometimes I swear it forgets to tell me to add on to the Palace - I click "P", and get to add 6 pieces at once!

This is the one most useless part of the game...
It doesn't serve any function.
Most of the time i simply ignore the palace building thing...

As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to visit the Customization forum now and download a shiny new palace for even *more* fun

Who has made a new palace? I don't think anyone has tried to edit that. I've never seen any graphic mods for that, I would certainly be interested if there was.

I am the opposite, I think palace upgrades are the most important part of the whole game! I love them and was very angry when they didn't have it in Civ2. I just wish it was easier to edit the palace screen. If you find the code for it in one of the text files you will see it is all zero's and ones which must mean where the pieces go on the screen but I have never figured it out.

I have also seen the mysterious palace problem where it fails to tell you about an upgrade and you suddenly find out you have one when you click on the palace button.

That's my 42 cents.

Well, that's exactly what I just found out: hardly no one has ever made custom palace pieces
I went about 8 pages deep into the Creation & Customization history, but no luck.
There's only the Blue Palace, but nothing else.

That dark blue looks interesting though......

Yes, Sesn, I did mean that civilization does not seem to want to expand my palace...I've got pretty good happiness, outstanding world power, yet I must not be doing something if I can't get any additions.

I usually get my first palace addition after my first Warrior defeats his first Barbarian.

I've got masonry. This only seems to be happening in Warlord.

Has anyone actually finished their palace? I think I got within one addition today, that's the furthest I've got in 2+ years of playing! It tended to upgrade when a load of WLTKD's started after I'd just lost a lux then regained it the next turn.

Finishing a palace is a piece of cake......not that you have to actually do something about it .
Building your palce may be useless, but its fun, expetially when you get "i like mixing difrent styles" frenzy
